Assuming you are running Windows XP, you could try the following:

Go to Boot options screen (hit F8 key continually after pressing power button on)

Select "Safe Mode" (use the arrow keys to highlight the Safe Mode text)

Hit "Enter"

Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore > restore the computer to a point before installing the software.

Post back here when and if successful, and someone should be able to help getting programs installed correctly.

I hope this helps.

Full Metal Samurai,

Sorry, did not mean to imply anything, just being thorough.

Sounds like you need to get Bootskin to restore the default boot screen, and then uninstall Bootskin.

Have you tried getting into Safe Mode?

If possible, can you try running Bootskin in safe mode and restoring default boot screen?

then you got 2 options = do a search for bootskin in the forum to find how to restore back to default boot and take it out, and then if you want - go back to bootskin site and try one of the other versions

or hope Corky O supplies you the answer irregardless of your remark. bear in mind Corky O does the instructions that way for several reasons, but basically it's best to do it one step at a time and not everyone is computer savvy as you. Corky O makes no assumptions on the knowledge of the person asking the question - generally it's best to assume you don't know (unless you post your knowledge and list what you've already done (such as restore) than to assume you do and give you instructions over your head.

nah it's ok, well, I did all this last night, I ran in safe mode and used system restore to restore my pc to before I installed any of the software.

I'm using StyleXP at the moment, but I feel that stardock software is much more "sexy" and I really like some of the themes on this site.

Perhaps later I will try to install everything apart from bootskin, if it is indeed that program that is causing this.

Full Metal Samurai,

Might I suggest that you install WindowBlinds to start with and test it's compatibility with StyleXP before installing other softwares.

I have not run StyleXP before, so have little to offer other than doing a systematic installation to check compatiblity. Not sure what files might be needed and/or shared by these programs when installed.

Good luck.

I have Style Xp and Windowblinds. They can both be on the computer compatably. I would switch back and forth between the 2. You cannot run a theme from both at the same time. But, you can use a WB skin and a Style Xp logon at the same time. However, having Style Xp loaded with windowblinds causes the computer to run much slower. Style XP needs the Themes option in services to be enabled. That is somewhat of a conflict with WindowBlinds, as it greatly slows the computer down. So, now I only use WindowBlinds (I have Style XP disabled), and my themes option in services is disabled, and my computer runs much faster.
