Unpredictable Research Results

Not absolutely sure if this bug but it is very irritating anyway. At end of turn I check my Research screen which says Battleships NEXT TURN....GREAT, I hit TURN right away. But, what happened, no Battleships :sniff!:

My experience from recent Gigantic game is that at the start the Research estimate is accurate and can be trusted. However, as time goes by it becomes more and more unpredictable. In the early part of the game the workaround fix is to Save and Load the game. So, rather than next turn for those battleships, it is correct at 6 months now, assuming current spending. But, later on even that does not help. I have had it going both ways....sometimes with amazing gaps. Interestingly in the latter part it seems to swing back in your favour...especialyl if you r strong in research.

Any comments? Maybe this has been discussed loads before.
By the way, from UI point of view would be great to see the remaining months on the main screen...like we can for Social and Mil projects. Just 2 small words under the research slider, would save millions of screen refreshes for me :D

Yeah, having the date to completion on the main F4 screen would be great. I punch F4/F6 all the time, adjusting the research slider for optimal research.

There seems to be a problem still with the research estimates. It would periodically become stuck at a date, despite what you do with the slider. Saving and reloading does help but usually I ignore it as it would right itself on the next turn.

Wow, a maso gigantic player! You are a rare breed. You should upgrade to 1.05.071. Then you could resubmit your Maso Gigantic under 1.05 again. The Metaverse will accept it and you would be credited with a much higher score. That is of course if you are interested in score.

Just to add that the Fellowship currently has quite a few aspiring Maso players. We would love to have your participation in our strategy discussions.

Thanks! What an awesome / beautiful / intense game this is. Dreaming of retirement age now...just me and Galciv, version 11.... :)

Yeah, the 15k score is more befitting of a maso player.

Maso is sometimes too intense and frustrating for me. Kudos to you for completing it at Gigantic. I have one Maso Gigantic left in limbo at about year 5. Hope I will finish it one day.

Speaking of unpredictable research... does the ability Creativity actually do anything? I haven't ever had it give me bonus techs or open up new tech paths or whatever it is supposed to do. The only time I have ever seen Creativity actually work is when it is directly applied by the anomaly that increases your database of information on the currently researched tech.

Likewise, does Luck even work? I edited a political party to give +100% luck just to test, and yet I got the same number of colonization morality events and other randoms as in games with no luck bonus... What is it supposed to do?

The current manual covers these pretty well. Creativity helps your Survey ship make great finds, and Luck improves your chances with random events, invasion and things like that. Thats my understanding anyway...

Luck will get you Ranger class starships in the game. It happens randomly to you, and it will only happen to those that have the luck ability as well.

Don't reduce the research when something says next turn.  I think that you would find that it WOULD be done next turn if you left it at the current rate.

Yeah I guess. What I want to do is eliminate or at least reduce wasted expenses though. Those spending locks we had at some point were really useful feature too by the way. Battling the Maso levels, this kind of micro managing seems to help some.
