Thanks Danny. With more than 9,000 cyclists killed every year due to head injuries that could have been prevented or reduced by wearing a helmet, you betcha I wear one. I may be crazy, but I'm not stupid.

That's a pretty neat looking bike. Just out of curiosity, what's peddling that bike like? Is it easier since you're able to lean back? I assume you can't get as much speed as compared to a regular bike. A guy I see around here once in a blue moon has a bike similar to yours but it has a bit more of a low-rider-chopper look to it. Again neat bike.

Pedaling is the same as an upright bike, just using different muscle groups and the seating position is far more comfortable and aerodynamic when fully leaned back. You assume wrong regarding speed. Almost all bicycle speed records have been set by recumbents. This bike, even with the smaller wheels, is much faster than my upright.

Recumbents were barred from standard bike racing years ago because they presented an unfair speed advantage. They now race in their own races in a different class.

Thanks Trudy. While I have several tattoos, the one visible in the pic is my favorite. Yeah I know the weight will come off now that I am more physically active.

TW, recumbent bikes have actually been around since the 1800s, but after they were banned from standard bike racing in the 30s they nearly died out and have never been as popular as they should be. It's a shame too as the design actually creates much more efficient pedalling. Besides, they are really cool.

And thanks for the compliment. I've always been pretty muscular, which is why being fat really bothers me now. I'll lose the gut again in time, I'm sure.

Your bike is so cool. My father had knee replacement surgery 2 years ago and his doctor has been trying to get him to do bike riding. But he complains that after bike riding his back and behind hurts. Now I can show him the pics of your bike and hopefully get him interested in getting one of his own so thanks for the pics, Mason.

Definately encourage him to check out recumbents. They are super comfortable and do away with exactly those problems.

I used to be a biker back in the day. These days I take things slower and prefer pedals to gasoline.

The reason I came to look is because I am considering purchasing a motor cycle... I am 23, impetious, and have no love for practicality and a great love of speed, so I think it's time.
