These are pictures from last friday at Delizia's uncle's place. We were having a bbq for a couple of friends (actually Delizia's boss and his girlfriend) who are going back to Canada next week.


Delizia drank the whole bottle of white wine ... Seriously though, she DID! First she started with a straw then she decided she'd just gulp it down from the bottle....

They are the friends leaving to Canada: Martin and Marie Eve. They were presented with the usual shell neckalces plus a set of Vanuatu shot glasses and an islander style clock. Nothing big but they loved it all the same.

Note the purple dress the lady is wearing in the third picture. It's an "island dress". Most of the ladies and grils in Vanuatu wear this kind of dresses which were introduced at the time of the first missionaries that didnt end up being eaten, heh. But anyway, it's very common and very Vanuatu-like for women to wear it. I dont have one, my mama doesnt wear them either but all of my aunties own at least one that they wear to church on Sunday.

Nice pictures, looks like a fun party. Although, silly comment time In the second picture, what is all that stuff in the air? Is it snowing? Pollen? Dirty camera lense? In the third picture, the one with the purple island dress, you have some nice smoke signals going on. Did you invite ghosts to the party or is it some sort of secret code?

That stuff you see is smoke and ashes from the bbq. And the thrid one, well it's maybe ghosts. The house we had the bbq at was built on an old graveyard.....

Haha! Even here it's a joke, i think some tourists think cannibalism is still going on here, lol! There are t-shirts that say "island chief" and there's this huge melanesian dude with a big ass pot and a white guy in it, haha! if i find a picture of it in the net i'll post it here.
