Get Low
Album: Kings of Crunk
Year: 2003
Lil' Jon & the Eastside Boyz objectify women, reducing them solely to breasts and butts in the deplorable "Get Low."
Lil' Jon "dums-da-dums" in the opening, creating a leering, skeevy tone off the bat. One of the Ying Yang Twins howls. Lil' Jon counts to make the lyrics rhyme, says the girl is hot and tells her to dance over to him. With her butt up in the air, of course. He tells her to do it on both sides of the club. Remember the Dave Chapelle episode where he talks about learning the definition of the skit? It was one of those things he didn't want to know. Chapelle was right. The definition is unprintable. Instead, I'll allude to the movie American Pie and let your imaginations linger. ("3,6,9 damn your fine move it so you can sock it to me one mo' time/Get low, Get low/get low, get low/get low, get low/get low, get low/get low, get low/get low, get low/To the window (to the window), to the wall, (to the wall)...to all skit skit....all skit skit got damn (got damn)/To all skit skit... all skit skit got damn (got damn.")
Lil' Jon, who sounds like a creepy sex offender with his gravelly voice, is ticked because he's gotten kicked out of the club by the owner. Apparently, he's harassing the women in the club. He wears his future sex offender label with pride and blames it on the club owner. Then, he rambles off some nonsense of how he tougher than the guy. ("Shortie crunk so fresh so clean.../Question been harassing me in the mind this b**** is fine/I done came to the club about 50th 11 times now can I play with yo panty line/ club owner said I need to calm down security guard go to sweating/Me now n**** drunk then a m-fer threaten me now.")
One of the Ying Yang Twins, who sounds like a twelve-year-old boy in puberty, says he likes to watch the girls dance with their butts and take their clothes off. He comments he and his clique want to see women's breasts and butts. ("She getting crunk in the club I mine she work/Then I like to see the female twerking taking the clothes off buckey naked
ATL/Hoe don’t disrespect it.. Lil Jon and the East side boys wit me and we all like to see Ass and t******...")
After the chorus is Lil' Jon part where he teaches listeners how to get low. The entire section is shouted. It's annoying and noisy. ("Let me see you get low you scared you, scared you/Drop dat ass to the floor you scared you, scared you'Let me see you get low you scared you, scared you/Drop dat ass to the floor you scared you, scared you/
Drop dat ass ya shake it fast ya/Pop dat ass to the left and the right ya/Drop dat ass ya shake it fast ya/Pop dat ass to the left and the right ya/Now back, back, back it up
a back,back,back it up/a back,back,back it up/a back,back,back it up/Now stop ( O) then wiggle wit ya/Now stop ( O) then wiggle wit ya/Now stop ( O) then wiggle wit ya/Now stop ( O) then wiggle wiggle wit it.")
After the chorus, is the third verse. the other Ying Yang Twin has grown tired with one of the strippers entertaining them. He demands his money back and asks for one of the dumb girls in the corner who's not doing anything. But she doesn't arrive fast enough and scoffs at another who is entertaining the man next to him. From his point of view, he's the only man worth dancing for and the women should thank their lucky stars to be able to get some of his money. He then beckons her to come over to him and perform exactly how he wants her to. ("Now give me my doe back and go get ya friend/Stupid b**** standing there while I’m drinking my hen/Steady looking at me still asking questions/Times up n**** pass me another contestant/Hoe move to the left if you ain’t bout 50th/Done talk through 3 or 4 songs already/looking at a n**** with yo palm all out b**** I ain’t even seen you dance/Twerk something baby work something baby... do yo thang baby...
Slide down...wit yo little bit then stop/Get back on the floor catch yo balance then drop/
Now bring it back up clap yo ass like hands/I just wanna see yo ass dirty dance yin yang we done again/And put it on the map like annnnn.")
Lil' Jon once again teaches the female listeners how they can to the "get low" dance. This time, it's a bit more specific. ("Got damn (Got damn) ya ya’ll twreking alittle bit ladies/But ya got to twrek a little bit harder then dat/now right now I need all the ladies dat know they look good tonight/(where my sexy ladies) we want ya’ll to do this s*** like this/Bend over to the front touch toes back dat ass up and down and get low (get low)/Bend over to the front touch toes back dat ass up and down and get low (get low)/Bend over to the front touch toes back dat ass up and down and get low (get low)/
Bend over to the front touch toes back dat ass up and down and get low (get low).")
The chorus ends the single.
The disgusting "Get Low" is one of the worst songs ever. Lil' Jon, the Eastside Boyz, and the Ying Yang Twins revel in their misogny, treating women as though they were a product made to please them. The hatred of women is rampant is hard to believe they find them attractive. They comes across as men who would say she was asking for it and degrade the woman. It's a shame crap like this is popular in the United States and actually sells. It teaches men that it's ok to order women around and for women to do as they say, without any objections.
