Music Review: Natalie & Baby Bash "Energy"

Natalie & Baby Bash

Energy
Album: Natalie
Year: 2005

Natalie likes her boyfriend's outgoing personality and thanks him with a song in the puerile "Energy."

Paltry keyboards accompany Baby Bash's whispering of "energy/digging on your energy/Energy, digging on your energy/Energy, digging on your energy. energy.")

Natalie then sings the chorus twice. She says she likes the sweet compliments her boyfriend is giving her and his enthusiasm for the relationship. She then says she wrote the song in appreciation and that's inspired by him. ("Boy, I'm digging on your energy (Energy)/And I'm digging what you telling me (Telling me)/So I wrote this little melody (Melody)/And dedicate it to my favorite lover/Boy, I'm digging on your energy (energy)/And I'm digging what you're tellng me (telling me)/So I wrote this little melody (melody)/and dedicate it to my favorite lover.")

In the first verse, Natalie says she's in her bed and she's constantly thinking of only her boyfriend. She says she has thoughts in her head as opposed to Tiger Beat pictures which just occupy her brain everyday. To emphasize how much she's thinking of him, she repeats the word "over" two more times than necessary. She couldn't sleep and decided to spend the time writing a song. He didn't ask her to do it. However, she needs to be reassured that he won't be freaked out by her lack of intelligence. ("I'm lying in bed/There's thoughts in my head/I'm thinking bout you/Over and over and over and over again/What can I tell you, you got me so twisted/Tossing and turning/Over and over and over and over again/So I wrote a song tonight (Tonight)/You weren't begging me to write (To write)/Tell me is it cool tonight (Tonight)/To don't know what's on my mind.")

After the chorus is sung twice, Baby Bash raps. In his most bored, "I wasn't even supposed to be in the recording studio today!" voice, he says various types of bad weather wouldn't stop them from going out on a date. The relationship is special to him and he likes her lyriceses. He likes her music. It reminds him of his favorite alcoholic drink, Hennessey. He tells her to wish for a fish with him along with some happiness. ("Rain and shine sleet and snow/Couldn't stop the way we flow/Welcome to my miracle/And I'm digging on your lyrical/Your melody is my remedy/Squeeze to my Hennessey....Just make a wish/.And let's make it a fish with your boy Baby Bash with some heavenly bliss/Because your kisses on my lips, girl I'm ready to roll/
With so vicious and bubblicious, the energy's throwed.")

After the chorus, it's Natalie's turn again. It was love at first sight for her. He makes her giddy and full of butterflies. He's not a fake person. She repeats again that she likes the giddiness and butterflies. ("Boy, you know that I dig you/I fell in love when I met you/I love the way you make me feel/Your energy is something real/Boy, I love the way (I love the way)/
You make me feel (You make feel)/Is something bout you loving me/Can't do without your energy.")

After the chorus is sung twice again, Baby Bash's whispering of "energy/Energy, digging on your energy/Energy, digging on your energy/Energy, digging on your energy. energy.")

In the dumb "Energy," Natalie is a boy-crazy flake who can't articulate a single sentence. Baby Bash is her uninterested boyfriend who can't even form a correct grammatical sentence, let alone create a simile that makes sense. "Energy" is three wasted minutes.

I have to disagree. You say Natalie ( Quote- "Boy Crazy Flake" ) used two unnecessary words ( over ) to emphasize how she was thinking about him. You said in that same sentence that she was using it to emphasize how she was thinking about him! Also, you say that she needs to be reassured he won't be "freaked out" by her lack of intelligence. If she really was such a boy crazy flake who is lacking intelligence, she wouldn't be where she is now. Also, you say that Baby Bash is her uninterested boyfriend. Would you please tell me why, if he is uninterested, his part in the song says that no matter what kind of weather, it wouldn't stop them from going out on a date? Also, explain to me why he invites her to his "miracle". And for that matter, tell me why he digs on her lyriceses and why he tells her her melody is his remedy? I could continue on with that, but that would be unnecessary. Also, tell me what rapper forms any correct grammatical sentence in any of their songs? If you are listening to this type of music looking for correct grammar, I am telling you that you are into the wrong kind of music.
