Blogging is Like A Potluck Dinner

Sometimes, the food just blows

Sometimes, blogging, and especially the blogging community is just like a potluck dinner.

You've got political activists -- the meat and tatters guys on the right wing and the fau grois and spinach salad coming from the left, with libertarians bringing a little mix of everything... but mostly brownies.

Poets --- Being one of the aforementioned, we're probably bringing in boxed chicken as personal expression, or some half-sweet cheesecake. Maybe both!

Life Bloggers --- Potato cassarole. Green beans. You know, the normal stuff that noone wants to bring, but everyone likes.

Flamers --- Charbroiled veal... or is that sausage? Some kind of fish? It's so... blackened I can't really tell!

If Blogging is a potluck, what kind of dish do you bring to the table?

Peace,

Beebes

Funny

Me? I'm a mixed bag. I guess I bring a big pot of baked beans and a few whoopie cushions.

Interesting idea. I would bring a nice english trifle. Looks weird and no one is entirely sure what it is, but everyone agrees that it's delicious.

Does that smiley face mean you like to eat whoopie cushions? They're a bit... chewy for my tastes, but you know, I can see it... whoopie cushion a la mode .

Most people wouldn't know what a trifle even is, but I bet it'd be one of those dishes that was empty when you get to it. I hate that! You're in the back and you don't even know what it was cause it's all gone! You just see the empty bowl/plate! Argh!

I don't know where you have potlucks at, but I should move to that area! That sounds awesome... *drool* I haven't had any good rice in over a year, and I'm a big fan of the steak and salad... ugh, now I'm hungry!

I'd bring fresh baked bread. Bread's the kind of thing you eat every day and don't really think much about it... everyone concentrates on what's IN the sandwich between the slices of bread and kind of ignores the bread part. Freshly baked bread, the smell, and the texture and the taste...it gives people a reminder of just how nice bread can be, you dig?

My grandmother, before she died of cancer, baked her own bread every other day. It was amazing. I love homemade bread toast with real butter and peach preserves.

Actually, any homemade bread is so so so awesome! Dharma is my hero!

I'm the questionable casserole guy....just a little bit of everything thrown in, baked and cautiously consumed.

I'm sorry that you lost her....I don't have any grandparents left or else I'd say that you could share mine. Just know that she's never more than a thought away...

I bake my own bread at least once a week in the summer, usually daily in the winter, and I whilst I have a bread machine I don't use it very often. I like to make my bread from scratch...there's something very soulful and spiritual about making bread.

Aww, thank you! If you're ever down St Louis way you're always welcome to come over for tea and homemade bread!

I love home made bread, but since I don't eat bread every day it would kind of be a waste.

Thank you. I miss her a lot these days. Especially since I just graduated, she's been on my mind a lot. She was a wonderful woman.

That'd be nice. Road-trip!

Liked the comparison...nice article. Hmmmm...let's see...I'd bring a few dishes...a chocolate dessert to have something sweet for everybody; some salsa to add a bit of kick ; and maybe a chex mix...a little something for everyone...

I'll bring the MREs, with dirt from Iraq and Kuwait still in 'em, eat 'em with a bayonet and dirty hands, and wash it down with bleach-flavored purified water.

This was a great read! and such an assortment of food
and drinks
I'd bring a casserole made of shredded hashbrowns, two kinds of cheese, sourcream, and topped with cornflakes that were drenched in butter and crisped up in the oven.
Dharma's bread sounds scrumptious! My mom used to make 6 loaves at a time once a week and that aroma spelled "home"
to me.
I'm sorry to read of your loss Beeble gramas are the best.
I hope you have another person in your life that helps with
that empty spot, for that's, to me, what death is about, it's an empty spot that other hearts can warm and heal.
Peace and love to you too. Trudy

More chocolate! Can we have the chex mix with the salsa? That actually doesn't sound that bad....

Nice. We need ice. Otherwise all the punch that the flamers brought will be... hot!

Thank you Trudy. I do miss her. I've found no-one to fill her spot (no one could ever do that) but the pain slowly fades and you're left with all the good memories. And I have a lot of them.

Yep. But they call it "young and dumb" for a reason.

I would bring the Punch...a huge bowl of Purple Jesus! ( an amazing mixture of 190 proof grain alcohol, grape koolaid, and mescaline.)

Once everyone was drunk and hallucinating, I'd pick all your pockets and head to Las Vegas, laughing like a loon. (hey, I drank some too!)

Be careful driving/flying, we're holding the potluck in.... well, I think Texas Wahine is hosting.
