Help me figure out how to use this

I'm brand new to blogging and I can't figure it out. What do I put as external URL in the new article screen? Do I have to have my own web site to make this work?

you don't have to put in an external URL... that's just an option that you can use if you like. you don't need your own website...

just select the category that you want your blog to show up in, and blog away...

if you want your blog to show up on your homepage (username.joeuser.com) and in the forum, go there first and click Create a new article...
