Flash-based Web-mail account..,

Entirely Made in flash...(Goowy mail)..

hi..

I just came across this... seems kinda cool...

www.goowy.com

You should check out goowy mail for yourself. It's a new web-based email application unlike anything you've seen before.

Goowy mail combines all of the best aspects of desktop software with cutting-edge web technologies, and it's all wrapped inside of a Graphical User Interface that can only be described as...well...goowy!

The application is basically Hotmail with the client-side presentation layer made in Flash and asp on the server-side doing all the business logic. It has junk mail filters, categorisation capabilities, contact management and many other features. This is a great example of what Flash is good at, friendly, easy-to-use interfaces for online applications. It also has skins and realtime refreshing.

Its vibrant, intuitive, fun and best of all it's FREE with 100 mb storage!

Go to www.goowy.com and sign up for your FREE goowy mail account, which is currently in BETA release.

hmm... i think its cool... but i am happy with my gmail and my 250 mb hotmail acount..

There a lot of cool features to it too:

Spell Checker - We have adding spell checking functionality. This has been a popular feature request, and although it was always planned, we sped up the release process based on the demand. You'll find the 'Spell Check' button on your toolbar when you are composing messages. Clicking this button will launch the spell checker and allow you to correct mistakes in your emails. You will also be able to change some settings, including the languages supported, from the Options tab. Languages supported include US English, UK English, Spanish and French.

Login Performance - We have significantly reduced the amount of time that it takes to log into the application.

Alerts - We have revamped our alerts, making them a lot easier to read, and also giving them more of a "Flash" feel.

Reply To Address - Some of our users forward their email from other systems to goowy, preferring to use our user interface for replies, while keeping their existing addresses. We now allow users to set a reply to address for this purpose.

Features to come next week:

Virus scanning - Although most of you are probably careful with suspicious files, we want to do our part in keeping you and your computer safe.

SPAM Filtering - Although we currently utilize two forms of filtering SPAM, we will be adding a third form, which will minimize the amount of SPAM hitting your Inbox.

SSL Encryption - Although we never send clear text passwords, we want to provide even greater security making it impossible to steal even the encoded password during account registration and login, and we will be installing SSL encryption to do just that. Additionally, we will provide the option to utilize SSL encryption for the display of email message text, providing an even higher level of security.

Removal of Popups - We currently utilize browser popups for a number of functions such as displaying the help pages, the import contacts and the view/add attachment screens. Unfortunately, popup blockers on many machines prevent access to these functions. We will be implementing this completely in Flash, eliminating these browser popups.

Performance Enhancements & Fixes - We are going to continue to concentrate on improving performance and fixing issues as they are found.
In addition, we are going to be working hard on calendaring - and we will plan on debuting the calendaring functionality within the next month. This is a major feature, which when complete, will again set us apart from any other provider of Free web based email.

Personalized Skin - Due to popular demand, we are planning on incorporating personalized skins, allowing our users to upload their own images, which will then be utilized as the background for the skin. You can start preparing you custom skin now - just make sure to keep the size of the image to under 100K.
