The Beta AI Beat Me! :(

How embarassing...

Last night I fired up the game and was just sort of messing around. Within 5 turns I got a message saying that there was strong pro-Dreg sentiments on my home world. Two turns after that it had gone and rebelled. A few turns later, my second planet started to rebel, a turn or two later it was gone. Three turns later my third and final planet jumped ship on me and I lost.

Reading about how the AI isn't really in the game yet, or isn't very good and then losing to it sure is embarassing... especially because I set it to "cakewalk" just to be safe... lol

happened to me once I think that only happens if the AI is on your doorstep so catches even your homeworld undeveloped.

I think it is bad luck not good AI

The odd thing is that it doesn't happen the way that influence is supposed to work in GC2, so I suspect that code is either bugged or not implemented yet (and behaving in a similar way to GC1).

That is, the borders aren't moving, the world first gets a warning, then later just flips, and only then do the influence borders move. In the one game I had this happen, I was matching the Drengin in influence according to the chart and was building up the worlds more than usual, so I suspect that this is some bug that occasionally surfaces, not the way it's supposed to work. I didn't loose that game, only because as soon as I realized that it wasn't working any way I expected it to, I switched my entire economy into cranking out transports, and after retaking my original planets, left a fully loaded transport next to each one, "just in case."

Those borders (to the best of my knowledge) represent the line of control between empires, not necessarily the influence area. Your influence may extend beyond your borders, but those areas are still controlled by the enemy. There may be another map overlay to indicate influence areas, but I think the colored line right now represents your actual owned territory.

I checked the influence code and it has been changed to use the ZOC, but it looks like there may be a bug in it.
