Looking to create cursors

Can someone who makes cursors or knows how advise me as to the best way to get started? I presume I will need a cursor editor, and I can't ge that with CursorXP. My hope is to take the "U" that looks like a "SPUR" from the SAN ANTONIO SPURS and make it my pointer! But I need an editor to save it as a good quality .cur format. I appreciate any suggestions anyone can offer! GO SPURS GO!!
