Litestep won't work on Linux....it is specifically an alternate Windows shell.

It would be just as easy to have Explorer work on Linux...

As for LS uploads...generally they take a while to create....often more complicated than a Windowblinds skin...and so will be fewer and less frequent.

I have 3 or 4 on 'the go' at the moment but they may not even ever see the light of day.....time will tell...

Since there's already a Litestep thread open.....

I've had trouble when I try to open drives from "My Computer" or even folders within the C drive. The window locks up, and the Windowblind reverts to Windows Classic look. I try reloading the theme, but nothing happens. If I try to revert to the default theme it locks up, when I open task manager I see Explorer.exe running. If I end that process, the window closes and I'm fine intil the next time I try to access a drive or folder on C.
I seem to remember reading someone else having the same or similar trouble, but I don't know if it was here or maybe at Litestep.net, which last I looked was still down.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, I've gone back to Explorer as my shell, since I can't get anything done with constant lockups.
Oh, it doesn't seem to matter what theme I'm using I've had it happen with three or four different themes.

Just to repeat what Jafo said, there is a lot to making a LS theme. I made one following Big Daddy's tutorial at LS Universe, and made some personal changes to suit my use, but it's nothing anyone else would want to use. (ie: Butt-Ugly!)

tjesterb ...the problem you're having is that explorer [the shell] is loading when you want to really be using explorer [the file manager].

Firstly make sure you have 'set Litestep as shell' and rebooted....secondly to avoid this  2 shell conflict that sometimes happens...use a third party file manager such as Powerdesk....it's better than explorer anyway.

I can't say I remember how/what I have done not to have this conflict....I can run explorer [file manager] over LS without dramas....so it's possibly just one of 'dem things'...

one other problem which might arise with explorer (file manager) is the enhanced menu app from here. It can wreak havoc.

I've done several LS themes, but am having a hard time getting permission for somethings. When all that comes through I'll upload them.

Thanks, Jafo. Litestep was definitely set as shell. I'll se if I can find another way to fix the conflict, since it doesn't make much sense to me to buy a $49 program to make a free one work.
I've had the conflict using your Avenger and AntaresII themes, as well as a couple others made by other artists.

There 'should' be free versions of Powerdesk still around....that's how I started with the proggy....moving on to the 'Pro' ver once I was hooked...
Thanks for the link. I'll give that a try. I did a Google search for Powerdesk earlier, guess I gave up before I got to that one.

Ah...I have the Pro 6 ver...so it's easy to find the home site and locate the freebie...

I forgot to mention a question. With litestep, i , umm, say, connect to the internet, the icon showing i'm connected in the systray wont appear, and i did an experiment, when i unload wb it disapears from thesystray, but if i load it again, it won't appear in the systray! it is really annoying
please help

Some systray processes are linked closely to Explorer...and only show reliably within the Explorer shell itself....when you use a different shell they don't always appear as they 'should'.

Good test...try killing LS in Task Manager ...and reloading it again....and note how many systray icons have disappeared...

Not trying to Hi-Jack the thread but I have a Power Desk question.
In the full version (it's not available in the trial) does the Sync utility allow you to synchronize folders across a network on two different computers in a batch mode. I ask this because I generally use a seperate utility to keep my CAD drawings from the office server "backed up" on my laptop which I work on evenings and weekends at home then go in and sync back to the server.

Lantec .... I don't use that 'feature' but I think it does do it...

Tominated: check if trayserver.exe is running at startup and if it is, diable it using msconfig. that may solve your problem.

but my family use the pc, and i'm the only one who can use it without it screwing up, and i don't want to be blamed if it does screw up

does the Sync utility allow you to synchronize folders across a network on two different computers in a batch mode.

I found this in the Help files

Folder Synchronizer copies or moves files between two different folders.
When would you want to use Folder Synchronizer? Here are some ideas:

· You have files that you edit on both your laptop computer and your desktop computer. Both machines need the latest version of those files.
· Your share of the network is backed up every night. Your PC is backed up when you get around to it. Synchronize local data with the network share.
· Back up selected files to a diskette or other external drive rather than using a dedicated backup utility.

will it effect them if they use explorer? just taking precautions.

I think i found the problem. I screwed up litestep (i'll fix it later) and went back to explorer. I found that litestep only showed the systray icons that i normaly use (it has that little arrow to show them all) and those were the ones that were shown on litestep. if i turn the 'hide' function off, will it fix it?

if i turn the 'hide' function off, will it fix it?

No...that 'hide' function is Explorer....the shell.

Litestep has a module loaded [normally].....eg systray.dll [or similar] that will give you the loaded icons....however, as I said earlier...not all icons will necessarily show as some are dependent on the Explorer shell process....
