It has been stated many times in recent musical history that drummers and perucssionists are not too bright.
there have been many jokes and slams directed right at the rythym section (including bass players).
Just wondering how most popular bands would do without us. many may say, just use a drum machine or beat track, but it takes out the creativity and individuality of the music i believe.
i must be one of those drummers who actually can read musical notation forthe rythym section..
not an easy task i think. if drummers are so dumb or useless... let me drop a few names...
buddy rich, gene krupa, steve smith, dave weckl, steve gadd, louis belson, art blakey, ringo starr, marco minniman, joey kramer, and zorro... just to name a few "minor" names lol...
i would like to see where any of the musicians they "backed up" would be without their " dumb" contributions.
so the next time you think ill of the rythym section keep this little blog in mind.
i will be going into more detail on "why" we are important in a later blog...
