random intelligence?

This isn't really a big deal, but I decided to try out the 'random' feature for a little more challenging game. (I've been scared to move the other races off beginner so far :D) Only I was kind of disappointed to see that it's obvious what each races intelligence is; the little box of text describing them completely gives it away.

If I see that the Drengin and Yor are destined to sweep across the galaxy while the Altarians think nose-picking is a form of communication, I end up adjusting my playing style whether I like it or not. I think I'd prefer it if I could go into the game not knowing any details at all about them.

I know you can modify parts of the game by editing text files or something, would it be possible to do that here? And if it is, I'm incredibly stupid, so can someone please explain in words of one syllable or less? :D

Hello Luminae,
Yes you can edit the files, but I have no idea how to do it.
Maybe you should select yourself the AI level, since it allows you to better balance your game (it's more a difficulty setting in my opinion). And then set the moral alignement to be random, so you don't know right away which civs are most likely to be friends with you.

The blocks of text describing the races seem to be stored in english.str, the first one being called "[0Report_Good_Dumb]". You could probably edit that file so that they're all the same if you don't want to know untill you're playing how good they are. Or you could just cover that part of the screen with your left hand so you can't read it while you're using your right hand to click the "Random" button. Whatever works for you.

:D LOL :D LOL :D LOL :D LOL
Now that is what I call a true random selection process, not unlike rolling the dice and covering your eyes so you don't see what the answer is.

Lol, thanks for the help everyone. I actually tried that (it seemed easier than messing with the text files) but then the Torians came in and crushed me before I even got to Corvettes, so I think I'll stick to adjusting the levels myself for awhile :D

I actually asked about this a long time ago in a dev chat they had and Brad said it would go in, but I think it got bumped WAAAAAY down the priority list LOL

I keep checking patch notes just to see this one glorious note.

- Choosing random intelligence and/or morality setting no longer gives a racial blurb when starting a new game.

I keep hoping it makes it in AP at least :)
