Happy Birthday Big Al

The birth of a child is a miraculous experience.  I have been fortunate enough to have been a party to more births than most people experience in their lives.  It never gets old for me.  The joy, the feeling of hope, the instant connection I feel with a new life.

It doesn't even come close to when it is your own though.

And so, today I just want to tell my wife what an amazing, strong, courageous, heroic, loving and powerful person she is.  She blows my mind, and the fact that she wants to be with me forever is even more incredible.

And to our first son, affectionately nicknamed Big Al by me (even though he is the smallest of our three at birth), I welcome you into our world, our family, and our lives.  There is already a spot in our hearts for you, and today you came to fill that.  Happy birthday son.

Can I ask what Big Al is short for? You mentioned on an earlier blog his middle name would be John but I don't know what Jessica & Aubrey's little brothers first name is - if you'd prefer not to say that's okay And how big/small he actually was born?

Very happy for you and yours Dev

His full name is Alexander John, but we will call him Alex. He is 20 inches and 7 lbs 14 oz (both girls were over 8 lbs). Thanks trina!

That's a fantastic name and weight (elana was 7 lbs 15 oz)

with a name like Al I thought Alex but it could have been Albert (yuck - no offence to any Alberts out there it just doesn't sound like a great baby name for 2005)

Congratulations again

Congratulation to you and your family, mate. I'm so pleased everything went well. I've been wondering whether you were busy or if the imminent birth had occured. Now I know...

All my very best to you and yours...

Whoa, congratulations! The Jones clan is growing... readers would be wise to forge alliances with this new power.... to er... defeat the English... or something... wait.

//goes off to take his meds

What I meant to say is "that's awesome!"

Your absence has been excused, BTW

Yeah, it has been a bit busy. Makes for an easy excuse while my will to blog has been nil. Thanks for the post.

Thank you Dusk411!

Stanton: Don't you know it. And now, with another male in the mix, my heir is here for me to train and shape as I wish! Thanks man.

I am so grateful that we could share the amazing experience of another of our children coming into the world. I couldn't have done it without you... just knowing we are side by side gives me the confidence and the faith that we can do anything. I love you more and more with everything we experience together. I'm so glad you picked me.
