So We gather here to lift her sprite. :)

Easy to add. Gives them a bit of oomph. People always say things like resumes and business cards should be distinctive. Then, people won't be quite so surprised when you change it to "Our Lady of Software" on the next batch.

Who knows? Tell Frogboy you've been offered a job as Mel Gibson's personal game developer. Maybe he'll give you a raise. :D

Ah...

Weary of politics, the former Jedi aimlessly cruises the threads of the Metaverse. His Jedi Starfighter finds its way to the blessed sun of Skowbo. Seeing a familiar ship in orbit, he opens the communications channel to say hello...

And hears a PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION - with NUMBERS, no less - of a goddess! The SACRILEGE! To quantify the immutable perfection of the Powers Beyond with a height and weight estimate?!? What's next - eye color? Fashion tips? NAIL POLISH COLORS!?!!??

Deep within his mind, years of training snap like a twig trying to hold up an airborne Volkswagen. The Dark Side rages within him. THIS INFIDEL WILL PAY FOR HIS DESECRATIONS. With determination, he removes his flight helmet and puts on the other one - the shiny black one with the breath mask.

A voice sounds, quietly but firmly, within the recesses of his mind. "This is not the way, Obi-Wan. I bring enlightenment and happiness. Destruction carried out in my name brings me no joy, regardless of its motives. Besides, Mayito carries much chocolate and Mountain Dew on his ship."

Grimly, Darth Kenobi shakes his head and slams the throttles to full. "Sorry, toots. I've been playing the nice guy for months now. It's time to flip the coin over. It's time for some payback."

The Starfighter shudders to a halt, its engines still screaming madly. "I said, CHOCOLATE and MOUNTAIN DEW!"

The Sith meekly pulls back on the throttle levers. "Well...OK...but can I shoot him later for defiling your temple with such horrid blasphemies?"

A pause. "Let's see how good his poetry is first."

After reading this thread, all I can envision is a group of you guys dressed in monk robes following Cari around chanting and smacking your heads with large books filled with GalCiv code.......Cari, of course, is ignorant to the followers and just keeps strolling along drinking her Mountain Dew slurpy.

I sit at my desk, stunned.

It is like a revelation from above... THERE IS MORE THAN ONE GODDESS! Does this mean there is a pantheon of Goddesses and Gods out there THAT WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT? Are they all children of Momzilla? Can we divine the truth from such limited facts? Do we care about the truth? Or just go with whatever makes us feel good?

I've been around since the OS/2 days (over 8 years).... I think I can handle it......maybe LOL

Matter of fact, I have an odd connection with GalCiv.  I made some of the landscapes for the original GalCiv I for OS/2.  Pretty mind boggling, huh?

Terry Goodkind is the author of the series.

It is always sort of scary when the programmers are the sanest of the inmates here. I did enough in college to know how warped they are. :) Now I just get to curse databases, VB, and hardware/installation problems. Cari, are you a fan of the UserFriendly strips? Recently had a couple you would probably appreciate. :)
