Not too extensive, in our case...

Today as I clued in that Michael was getting hungry, I proposed to him, "How about we eat lunch?" And whenever I'm feeling patient enough to slow down a concept for him, I'll repeat one main word of a sentence over and again... "Eat... Let's EAT...Eat....Eat." Then as he ate the food, I'd repeat it patiently to show him that he's "eating."
And he got it! To my joy he repeated "eat." And every time I said it after that, he'd repeat, "eat," with that coy little smile. And when Daddy got home from work Michael was still able to perform his new word. Daddy was thrilled too. "Eat!"
A couple weeks ago, while Michael was scrubba-dub-dubbing away in the bathtub, I was talking to him about a purple glove. I emphasized "purple." "Pur-puh!" he said. He's not much into two-syllable words, so that one surprised me. And even to this day, if he's in the mood, he'll gladly repeat "purple" for us if we ask.
Ahh, the joys of first-time motherhood. Maybe this is how Helen Keller's teacher felt when Helen grasped her first word, "Wa!" (water)...
So now I'm stretching to come up with some wacky phrase that will incorporate all the words he's mastered so far...but maybe I shouldn't because then he might actually try to make some sense out of it, and become a very bewildered little boy.
A friend suggested this: "Uh oh, the cat will eat the purple shoes. Let's gives him some hot cheese to eat instead!"
