How do you stop leasing or avoid leasing all together?

Also, I don't see where I can create economic modules with my constictors. When I put them on a resource, does this give the economic benefit?

You can't stop a lease once it's started. As for economic modules, aside from the mining modules for a base on an econ resource (which boosts tax income), there are two types: trade boosters (boost value of trade route while mini-freighter is in that sector) and production (for planets in that sector). They require varying levels of research.

The term "lease" is a bit misleading - it's really a mortgage. You are taking a long term loan and making payments.

You can avoid leasing altogther by funding at 100% and putting 100% of your spending into the thing you want in a hurry. It's only a few turns slower than leasing, and it doesn't wreck your economy.

On Gigantic maps, funding military at 100% gives you much more for your starting $1000 than you get from leasing a few colony ships. Plus, with funding at 100%, you can go all the way to -500.
