May I also report that they finally have fixed a bug that I was reporting here after every patch? LOL

You can no longer say a contract would be for 1 turn but only pay for 0 turns (you could save vast amounts of money if you exploited that). It finally works as it should and 1 turn means 2 payments instead of one!

v1.12.079

Scrolling of the mini-map in zoom mode appears to be faulty.

the mods section is only available once you start a game.. in the main menu panel..

Once you've changed there steeing in there you then have to restart GalCiv for the setting to take effect..

This would be better if it was on the game setup screens.. eg:pol party etc..

I concur.. that the scrolling in the mini map is broken.. I miss it a lot.. (I play gigantic)

It still suffers from the "Disapearing ships" bug :(

I'm about half way through a gigantic masso at the moment with it.. :)

ARGGGGHHH!!! :sniff!:

It doesn't centre the mini-map on the active ship when that ship ends an autopilot course. (Also seen the mini-map does not scroll.)

Of course, they previously gave the microsoft response. Closedown/reboot, not worth fixing as there is an acceptable workaround.
Yes, it directly impacts my game play also and I am not impressed by it all. It is a direct contributer to me playing & submitting less.

BTW, I appreciate my post is abrupt/bordering on rude and I don't find the style of Stardock response to date to be helpful or useful.

Concerning war against a pair of allies: Several times I've been in a situation where the first of two allies offers peace and I accept, only to have that ally give me the "You are at war with my ally so I must declare war" message on the very next turn. Then on the following turn the second ally offers peace. Accepting that offer results in the second ally redeclaring war one turn later and starting the whole cycle again. There seems to be no way to end the war. (Even offering 4 special trade goods to the weaker side wasn't enough to get a peace deal and break the cycle even though they went on to offer peace the next turn anyway).

Perhaps allies should somehow coordinate their peace offers?

After a while of playing some graphics disappear (ships, planet pictures). Seems to be a memory leak issue that disappears after reloading. This bug was also in 1.11 and certainly also before...

With a warship and transport in a fleet I managed to fligh into an enemy Starsystem if there was no defense and I used autopilot.

AIs have more transports now, good, but they sometimes keep them hanging around in space and be waiting for something so that in a war where I, the Torians and the Drengins together attacked the Altarians I was the onlyone to actually conquer planets. That was on Intelligent-AI-Setting. But maybe I only was a bit too fast for them...

The mini map no longer scrolls :( which adds a ton of mouse clicks on gigantic. :notsure:

found the mods section. :)
still awaiting news about party logos. (:(
seems trivial i know but spent hours sorting new graphics out for the parties and moded ones. now no logos apear.

You can edit the prefs.ini file to enable the mods (EnableMods=1) to enable/disable the mods prior to loading a game.  You can also leave the mods in your normal data folder and it will act as it usually does.  The mods folder is for organizational purposes as opposed to changing functionality.

I'll check into the political party logos not showing up and the minimap bugs.

Only one thing to report, maybe I am the lucky one, when the event of the 60+ corvettes occurs, you know when you get this wonderful gift, I only have a problem and that is that the group of ships, if you join all them under one group, moves very slowly, could be my graphic card, or is there any other explanation?
No, it's probably just my inefficient code. :(
Reply #17 Top
Don't say that, you are an excellent programmer, I just asked to see if anyone else has the same problem, because I have noticed that problem in everyone of the new updates and could be my computer, I cannot play gigantic games, because my compuiter goes down hill in its speed to a slow crawl, but could be just that I have to much junk in my hard drive. Don't blame yourself you are an excellent programmer and also an excellent person, if you come to Orlando I will take you to the FLorida Mall and the special chocolate store. LOL ;)

LOL That would be fun. :)

I've had people report problems with ship battles being really slow, and the problem gets fixed when they update their sound and/or video drivers.

But it is quite possible that it's just the way that the fleet code is written.  After all, when was the last time that you tried moving 80 ships at once?

I dont like using fleets bigger than 20 ships because it only shows me what the 1st 20 are...

What would the response be on the issue with the fleet that can enter an enemy System? I guess something like: "When you know how to reproduce it, simply don't do what you have to do to get your ships inside of an enemy system!"

However if yoz have spare time to adress it, here are the facts how to reprouce it:

- group a normal ship and a transport in one fleet
- autopilot them to an enemy system withot defenses

they now will enter the system as if it was free space... one might say it's the 3rd dimension and they are behind it.
Looks funny when the Altarians attack their own planet (actually they attack my ships behind it)...

I also experience a drastic slow down when moving a large fleet - the larger, the slower ;)
It's not just the number of ships; I've noticed a definite slowdown when transports (esp. Combat Transports) move. Almost as if each trooper was being moved individually, if you have a fleet of 12 of them...!

Sticking to Medium maps - sometimes even a Large - is an OK workaround, though. My eyes aren't good enough to see the minimap on a Gigantic anyway. ;p
Reply #22 Top
Heh, that bug won't take a week to fix.  I'll check it out.
Cari - FYI, the slowdown has been around for several versions, at least back to 1.05. So I'm not even sure it's a true bug - just a feature that lets you enjoy the wonderful appearance of the Combat Transport for a bit longer...

got top end pc with loads of vertual mem 128mb graphics card ooh and a partridge in a pear tree. still get slow down on gigantic maps near to the end of the game. can take upto 30+secs to take turn. but have always worked round this so not really a prob for me as such.

Not sure if this one has been mentioned . . . seems to be a problem specificaly with the Altarians as allies. They don't offer you a choice of disolving thier alliance until after you've gone to war with thier enemies. It's kinda funny asking someone afterwards . . . :)
