I'm typing this from my ThinkPad T40.  That's the main PC I use.  I like it because it's not super fast so I don't get too far ahead of what others are using and it's portable.

But behind me here is my Dell G4 which is a 3.6 Ghz monster with 2 gigs of RAM and 400 gigs of hard drive space, ATI X800 Pro.  That's my gaming rig.  Next to it I have a 2.8 Ghz machine that I use Multiplicty on (unreleased Stardock product we're working on that you can find here https://www.stardock.com/products/multiplicity/) to control both at once.

I have an office/floor littered with the effluvium that once was a Asus P4P800 Deluxe P4/3.0 gig 800fsb with a gig of DDR3200 [400fsb] in a Lian Li case and Radeon 9600xt 256meg, 3 physical drives totalling 300gig, DVD dual layer burner and CD RW.

When you turn it on the monitor displays 'no signal' so either the CPU and/or the MoBo are cactus.

It put a 'dampener' on Christmas......just a 'little'.

This running in my recording studio with Acid Pro 5.0, Acid Vegas 5.0, Reason 2.5,Cool Edit Pro 2, Native Instruments Kontact, Sound Forge 6.0, as well as 2 technics 1200's Behringer DX052 mixer and a 8 channel mixing board with dual effects and compression a boss perimetric EQ and Paisley Research & JVC studio monitors...I also 2 MIDI Keyboards an electric guitar and an Acoustic Guitar plus a Sony 8mm video camera for makin music videos and about 15 crates of wax!!!fffffeeewwwww!!!!! so as you can see my lil computer aint cutting it but now i werk for HP and my comp at werk rox!!! and now mine seems like garbage!! and it is...but i can run everything nicely with this machine...but my studio is growing as well.. and my main peice of gear isnt....ill let you all know how it goes...thanx fer yer time!!!! cityboy!

oh man! looks like i have the low-end system beat. 350 MHz P2 CPU, 128 RAM and two hard drives, one at 10 Gigs for system/program files and a 60 Gig running at half-space due to lack of a decent (yeah,...i'd settle for a decent) cpu. anything pushing a 1 Ghz.

all this running DesktopX and the rest. I can even run photoshop 7.0 but eh,...me thinks it's time to upgrade.

I have a p4 3.0, a ASUS p4p800mobo, 1g Corsair RAM, ATI Rad 9800 pro, SBAud2, and 1 660watt 6.1 surround setup for my PC room.

Despite all that, I have a really crappy monitor that was given to me from a family member who worked at a center for the developmentally disabled (mentally retarded). It is horrible, and supports nothing greater than 1024*768. Ironically, I got a developmentally disabled monitor from this source. heh.

Mine is a P4 1.6 with 512MB RAM. I'm about to put in a 120GB Hard drive and keep the existing 80GB as backup/swap space. DVD Burner has allowed me to back everything up on one disk for once too I was dual monitor but one blew up when I had a power failure a long time ago

I've swapped components so much that I really can't tell no more what's inside my machine, aside from that it has an 800MHz AMD T-Bird processor, 640 megs of RAM, which has never hit its limit, and three drives with a total of twenty partitions. I love slicing up my drives.

Latest alterations were silencing components, but I still can hear it (though none of my friends can).

Anyway, I'm on the low end too. 300Mhz Intel slot 1, 2-4Gb hdd'S (I'd bought a 80Gb HDD but the system wouldn't support it), 160megs RAM, onboard sound & video (kinda takes the fun out of WinFX, ya know?).

But never fear, if estimates are correct, due to the kid I'll get a good refund on my taxes and will upgrade to at least a 1Ghz processor, bigger HDD, a little more memory, and a modest video card (go WinFX!!!).

At least I hope I can.

Another home built rig here, DELL is the only pre-built I'd consider and even they can't offer the options I wanted. Anyway, it's time for an upgrade but this system has served me well for a while now:
