How do I mk my own logons and bootskins??

Please if someone could help me with making my own bootskins and logons i would really appreciate it and will try to return favor in any way i can

I'm new to this world, but love it so far...I want to get going on the skinning stuff....
I've got Photoshop 7 with tons of plugs/shapes/brushes and actions....Illustrator 10 with the same....A great liquid/3D pixel Icon maker (the ole fashion way)....
Anything else I need to do this right????
