psychological horror

Hey, does anyone know any websites out there detailing the any theories on 'psychological horror'? I'm trying to write a treatment for a project at uni and I can't think of things that are really scary in a psychological sense. Has anyone played any of the Silent Hill series? (specifically silent hill 4) Because they're based entirely on psychological horror and visual and audio disturbance. Everything in those games are based on "what you can't see will scare you more" and the famous "silence is also a sound". they also used the rule of anti-emphasis in which most of the scariest things aren't actually foculised(?), you see it IF you notice it - alot more scarier than the the camera doing an extreme close up on it and the orchestration starts up. I'm looking for websites that concern and theorise "psychological horror", "abstract nightmares" and "common and odd phobias".

please please help me out I will be super greatful.

thanks.

Let's hope your spelling improves prior to your documentation of your project....else it will be the spelling that is 'the horror, the horror'.... Spell checker

Thanks Jafo. I'll bear that in mind. However given that this is only a message board governed by administrators, I don't feel the necessity to impress you all with my grammar and punctuation. (Don't worry Mr Jafo I had to do English A-levels to get myself into Uni ) Besides, on here I always write in a hurry so the punctuation may inadvertently be placed in the erroneous position.

Please give me more links, I'm very greatful.

'grateful'.... Spell checker

Try Google for 'horror'....

Then search within results for 'unconventional', or 'obscure' or 'weird'...

What are you? An English lecturer? You totally stepped on my point about me excusing my English when I conceive messages on a message board. Thanks for correcting me though it's really obsess- I mean, "good" of you. I've already tried those keywords.

Search engines are 'GIGO'.

You only need to input the right words and you'll get results.

It is far more than likely that any links people provide will be purely because they have persisted with the exact same searching that you SHOULD be doing yourself.

I didn't ask you all to search for it for me, I asked if anyone knew any websites detailing the information I need. If you don't wish to help me then don't.

What you are searching for is not a common interest. Especially on a skinning site. Perhaps you will have better success at a site that caters to the occult and horror.

It's not apart of this website. It's external material. And he referenced it in relevance to my seeking. Is there a list of rules I can read on this site? A handbook or something? I don't remember signing up for this and reading the terms and conditions, maybe I overlooked it I don't know. I haven't checked that website nevertheless. Still.

gizzimo...Wincustomize.com is a family site.

Links to dismembered corpses due to railway accidents is not appropriate content to have accessible to the 'young'.

Consider the rule read...

If you wish to trade links to sites related to necrophilia or morbidity, do so elsewhere.   Email sounds good...
