I was going to tell you about another site where the artist had created a superb 3D colorful map of Middle Earth but the Tolkien Estate's lawyer made him remove it from his site. Fans aren't allowed to create their own maps to display on their websites according to the lawyer.

The artist does have some other interesting artwork that someone might be interested in developing into some themes, or wallpapers, or whatever - he gives permission for wallpapers for personal use - there are several that the skinners here might like.

According to what he says on his website he hasn't felt like creating any new artwork for quite some time. Maybe someone could inspire him to creat some Object Desktop artwork?????

His name is Jonatan Alvarsson and his website is http://www.geckoartist.com

P.S. I do have .jpg copies of his two Middle Earth maps.

I meant 3D-looking map, not 3D map.

I also have several other .jpg Middle-Earth maps I found around the web that are very similar in look and color.

The picture you're looking for is one of the map backgrounds of a 3D-rendered screensaver called The One Ring 3D Screensaver by 3Planesoft. Their website is http://www.3Planesoft.com

Hope this helps.

croissant, you can download the shareware version of WindowBlinds here:  http://www.windowblinds.net

It's simple to install and just as easy to use as msstyles.

That's a myth or maybe the early version 1.X, 2.X had issues on Win9X This thread https://www.wincustomize.com/msgboard.asp?BID=WC&id=264655 will explain about how it isn't an impact on system performance

croissant, if you disable the Themes service in XP's services, Windowblinds will actually use LESS resources than the default XP skinning engine.

Buh? I Have Tuneup 2004. I didn't realize it did themes too. Looks like it does use IP Icon Packages.

paxx: I can't figure out how to quote you to continue this thread - I select the text and hit the Q button but then nothing else happens.

Anyway, to continue, do you disable XP's themes by choosing 'Select None' in the 'Themes' tab from the Properties dialogue box?

And excuse my ignorance, I'm new to these boards, but what does   mean? I've seen it all over the place.

Also, I know you're not supposed to cross over on threads, but did you see my message to you about your hot laptop from the A REAL PROBLEM HERE thread? I couldn't get the quote thing to work there either.

croissant: I searched all over the net last night - I wasn't remotely sleepy - and I couldn't find the theme anywhere.

Highlight what you want to quote and press the "Q" botton.

To disable themes service, goto the control panel and click on admin tools, click on services, then scroll down and find themes and double click it and set it to disabled.

StyleXP might be worse for system performance/stability because it hacks certain system files. Applying hacks to the system files will generally decrease system stability and performance.

The screenshot that you listed did not include icons. The icons used in the screenshot were the default windows icons. It seems logical to use a program that doesn't hack the system files(1), and allows you to shut down a service thereby, gaining even better system performance(2). The windows icon and text plastered over the start button doesn't look nice to me. The windowblinds version doesn't have that ugly addition. Therefore, the windowblind version looks better to me(3).

Thanks kona0197 for the info. I think the Q button doesn't work for me because I'm still using an old Mozilla build.
