Manually change explorer toolbar icons?

I usually just hack my shell32.dll but I can tfin wehre the icons are kept for the explorer toolbar.

I just want to know where these icon files are stored so I can just use reshacker and swap them.

And no I dont want to do it via windowblinds.

Thanks

Hacking is not the answer. You might get problems in the future by doing this. Use WindowBlinds its safer, better and far more powerful

you can also use Yz toolbar... if you REALLY hate windowblinds that much... and you don't need 3 threads on the same thing either.

Fuzzy Logic real sorry about that I was tryng to edit my post........apologize for the multiple posts.

As for windowblinds...........hell no its an amazing app

I am maing a slipstream sp2 xp cd and I just want to have my icons and all my hacks already in the shel32.dll so on install Ill have my theme

ok so..........

Using reshacker I replced the bitmaps (214,215) whith another bitmap (Yz toolbar... thanks halluci}but I get the black around the icon on the explorer toolbar, then I decide to make the backgrund of my bitmap the color that matched my toolbar(grey)then I replace the bitmap.

The problem is that it seems there is no transparency to the ions when reshacker replaces them (since it only replaces .bmp files).......so as a result wehn I highlight(mouseover) a given icon in my explorer toolbar I can see the "grey"(looks liek a grey box with the icon in the middle) around the icon.

Is there an app that can replace that bitmap from inside the dll with the transparency surrounding the icons?

Ok so I und out tht these explorer icons are 32bit bmp files.............now pshotoshop CAN save to that foramt BUT when trying to replace the bmp in reshack it gets n error, meaning resack dosent suort 32bit bmp.........And when i use resbuilder do replae the bitmap..........lol windows dosent start bye bye tgt soft

so I jsut need a way to replace the 32bit bmp file in the shell32.dlll adn I'll be a happy camper

hmm luckyly for next guy trying to do this he will have my whole log here how to do it the easy way..........

well if background is magenta adn the bmp is 24bit it will be transparent on the magenta areas..........But if the icon you are using for the toolbar has soft edges you'll be outa luck like me cuz your icon will have a magenta contour.......

Still trying to figure out how to get the 32 bit bmp in the shell32.dll

Please do me and everybody else here a HUGE favour and read the text you wrote with 2 fingers back before hitting that submit button. You have no idea how it can P * I * S * S people off when every second word is displayed as if typed by a dyslexic. If you ARE dyslexic please have someone correct the errors for you.

Thank you very much!

Kalel99, Skin Studio can handle your problem just fine. If you don't want to use it and you prefer to hack the operating system, I believe you have come to the wrong place to ask for help. You might do better at the StyleXP forums.

See what happens when you hack your OS.

I'm just picturing kalel99's house... lots of little 'walls' between the rooms where normal people have doors. Want to go ito the next room? Easy! just knock down the wall and go in - then rebuild the wall behind you!
