First Tape: KISS - Heavens on Fire [1984]
First CD was a gift, birthday, Last Action Hero Soundtrack. [terrible movie, decent soundtrack]

First vinyl album I bought was............ are you ready for this........... The Smothers Brothers Live at the Purple Onion (I think it was purple) But that's not really a music album. The first music album was Led Zepplin III. Had lots of 8 Tracks back in the day.   First CD, I've no idea.

Wulfn1, the first album you bought was propably "Sounds of Silence", a great choice, and also one of the very first I bought My older sister's singles collection had a great impact on the choice for my first album purchase, well, "Revolver" with The Beatles. I can still remember, being eight years old in '66, the feeling sitting on the bus back home with the album in my both hands. The world around me didn't excist... to the not so very exciting first CD. "Hotel California" with The Eagles, which I bought a year before I got my first CD-plyer.

First Vinyl I ever bought was a 45, "Brandy" by Looking Glass, with "Golden Rainbow" on the B-side.

First LP I ever bought was Bachman Turner Overdrive (self-titled).

Don't remember which was the actual first cassette, but I think it was either Peter Frampton's "Frampton Comes Alive" or Kansas' "Point of Know Return"

First 8-track was Dan Fogleberg's "Greatest Hits".

My first CD was Bob Seger's "Greatest Hits". My most recent CD purchase was "The Long Road" by Nickelback.

First CD was D-A-D: Helpyourselfish - Danish rock gods.

Nowadays I buy new CD's from CDWOW: http://www9.cd-wow.com/ They're extremely cheap, but the downside is they only have the new stuff available, which in most cases means pure crap like Justin, Britney etc. There are some highlights though such as AIR: Talkie Walkie

Otherwise I go to a special music store called Sexbeat Records in the center of Copenhagen, he has the records I'm looking for in the heavy genre.

Sometimes I go to the regular CD shops as well.

The download era haven't reached Denmark yet (at least the legal). There are some music stores available, but they're not somthing I wanna indulge myself into. Bad offers and lame catalogs. I'll probably use Napster when that service is available here. I will never use iTunes.

First album I got as a gift from a friend for my birthday was Washington County Arlo Guthrie....first album I bought for myself was I think Jimi Hendrix Experience either that or Carole King Tapestry.....can't remember....

I dont want to sound too old (cause I'm not) but my first vinyl was a 78 RPM by a band called Los Angeles Negros. My first 12" vinyl LP was ABBA. My first CD was Eagels - Hotel California.
I never bought 8 tracks but had quite a few that my father gave me. Im not into music downloads but I have a collection of MP3 music that I have coverted from CDs to save time and space

First vinyl LP was The Isley Brothers ... don't remember the name, but I wore it out until it wouldn't hardly play

First 8 track was Rare Earth ... probably not too many people remember that group.

First CD was Joe Satriani ...Flying in a Blue Dream

" cd : I think it was the Eagle's Greatest Hits or a compilation album.
Also have had a few 78's and some open reel tape, and one of the first cassettes-the cassette itself was about 4 by 6 inches.

1st CD - 38 Special - Wild Eyed Southern Boys.

First vinyl, was the Beatles red double album.
First CD was Pink Floyd's A Momentary Lapse of Reason.
And today I still buy CD's when I want music.

also had some Eagles 8-Tracks and uncounted cassette tapes

Mercy goodness! It's been way too many years since the first music purchase I made....I used to have a large collection of 45's....we could buy them for 69 cents at the Meijer Thrifty Acres in Grand Rapids, MI and I always got the ones I liked when we shopped there. I still have some of my last bought LP's....think the Disco version of Star Wars soundtrack!

I have a good collection of cassettes and CD's now...in fact, I just picked up 4 new ones last night...."Facedown" by Matt Redman, "Short Term Memories" by Chris Rice, "Hiding Place" by Selah.....and, "American Glory" by Pat Boone!

Most of my music now comes from Family Christian Bookstore, or other Christian bookstores....altho, last week I ordered a couple online...the cd version of John Wayne's America album, and Clay Crosse's "I Surrender All". Sometimes you have to shop where you can find it!

First anything was a 45 - Sugar Shack by Bill Haley and the Comets. I did get a bunch of 78's with old jazz. I miss those a lot.

First album was (I think) Soft Parade by the Doors. First CD - hmmm. Oddly I can't remember. As you get old, recent memory goes first.

HMV is usually the place I get stuff now.

johnny cash, ring of fire. oh my I just thought about it I'm old. I put my head in my lap and weep uncontrollably. I guess those were the good ole days.

Typically...if it's not available on ITunes, I don't bother.

First 'record' bought FOR me....The Little Yellow Taxi.....a picture book with an embedded 45-sized record on the back cover....78 speed....I would have been about 5 ....so that's about 1959....I still have it somewhere....it's audio quality is somewhere between 'crap' and 'disasterous'....

While I was upstairs quietly listening to a vinyl 45 with 'Paint it Black' on one side and 'Hey Little Girl' on the other via a plastic orange and grey record player...my 4 yrs older than me brother was gyrating and stomping the cheap 50's modular style accessories off the walls dancing to Elvis....after which he would wear his earth colored paisley print cotton short with the sleeves torn off...a 4'diameter sombrero hanging off his neck and his $10 acoustic guitar slung over his shoulder (no he couldn't play worth a toot) and go walking around town in cowboy boots way too tight with a james dean/elvis attitude plastered all over his face until it was suppertime.... My 2 yrs older than me sister was fussing over her blonde hair and practicing frowning attractively and kissing herself in the mirror

. I had a 'Mr. Machine' that I subliminally programmed to attack her for being such a sick prissy.
