Icons with Stardock Object Dock

If possible, how do I get Object Dock to use Icons which didn't come with the software

I used Object Dock on my previous computer (with Win 10).  That recently crashed, and I've been trying to get Win 11 set up.

I'm now trying out the desktop version of the Object Dock software.  There are similarities in the set up from the older version I was using on Win 10.   However, I'm writing because I've been unable to select shortcut icons from other than the Object dock app, even though I used them on the older version.  They are all .ICO and .PNG icon files.

When I open any of these folders with icons from the Select ICON section of the Stardock setup, all the pages are blank

I even tried to follow the link I saw in Object dock to get other icons.  I selected two of the collections I saw on that page, but what was downloaded is FauxS-XPUniversalODEdition.zip.  I tried to run that, but all I got a webpage with other items to purchase and a conversion tool.  I don't want to have to convert several dozen icon images.

Is there a way to get Object Dock to recognize ico and png icons so I can use them in the new version?

Please advise if I'm doing something wrong and/or what I need to do to select saved .ico and .png icon files from the "change icon" section which didn't come with this newer version of Stardock's Object Dock.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please review my short video on how to add folders with icons into your OD icons library.

Note: You will need to select at least an icon within that folder to get all the icons listed in your OD library.

Hope this help with your question.

Thank you,

Hi, I get the gist of it, but the video isn't clear enough for me to see what you're pointing to on the menus (this with 2 24" monitors),  and I looked at it several times.

I managed to get to the screen with the Icon selections.  But I don't see a "Settings" anywhere to add icon folders.

  1. Right click on any shortcut item on your Object Dock.
  2. Select Setting->Select "Customize this icon.."
  3. Choose icon (app) Window should open.
  4. At the top "address bar" area click on the down arrow-> Drop down menu appear->Select "Add Folder to library"
  5. Explorer Windows should open->Browse to the folder where you have your icons and/or pngs files.
  6. Click on any one of those files to select it-> Click on open button.
  7. You should see all icons/png will be populated in your ObjectDock library. If you have any child folder under that main folder, its content should also get listed.
  8. These folder should still be listed the next time you open up your ObjectDock library to assign any other app with your own icons.

Hope that is clear enough.

You will need to click on the gear icon (settings) at the bottom right and change the playback resolution from Auto to 1080p. This should clear things up for you.

Thanks for doing this.  I followed as much as I could step by step, but there are menu differences in my version.   I was able to select a folder of screenshots, which now appears in the choose icon folder list.

But when I click on any of the ico or png items, it opens only in Irfanview.

When I return to the still open Dock Icon Properties, nothing happens when I click on the change and reset buttons.

(Honestly, when I used this software on my old Win 10 computer, it all worked perfectly.)

Perhaps there is conflict with Irfanview. Try uninstall Irfanview and see if the same issue appear.

I looked for " gear icon (settings) at the bottom right " and elsewhere on each settings window.  I don't see it.

BUT! ...... 24 hours later - When I got to the Econ Selection menu, the folder I had tried to add but hadn't showed up -- it's there now!  |-)

(Whew!)

I'd still like to find the gear icon.  Is it on the standalone Object Dock tool?

I was referring to Basj’s YouTube video. The gear icon adjusts the video resolution.
