Using custom icon for UWP app with Enhance Taskbar on

Hi team,

I am using this guide online: https://dpcdpc11.com/custom-taskbar-icons-guide/

To add custom icons to UWP app, in my case Windows Terminal.

Following those steps, the stock Windows 11 works fine with the custom icon. Start 11 also works as long as "enhance taskbar" is off. As soon as you turn it on, the icon seems to revert to its original icon.

So my question is, is it possible to:

  • Use Start11
  • Have enhanced taskbar ON
    • Need it for custom start menu icon that is also centered
  • Have a custom icon for UWP app pinned to taskbar

Thanks!

Is your S11 taskbar set to combined more or uncombined?

It's set to combine all. The icon is the same though if I don't combine all. Basically the custom shortcut icon as per that guide resets to default if enhance taskbar is on.

To the best of my ability I tried all possible setting combinations to try and make it work how I want it with no luck.

So I'm not sure if my use case is possible with Start 11 which is a shame because I thought it was a simple enough use case.

I think this is due to it being a universal app.  We are loading those icons directly rather than worrying what shortcut opened them (typically they do not have traditional shortcuts)

We will look to see if we can extend it to support this in the next update for you.  Thanks for letting us know.
