What has become of lifetime licenses? Can I still get a lifetime licenses?

Hi I would like to know what has become of the lifetime licenses? Can I still get a lifetime licenses for Object Desktop? 

I do not believe in paying for subscription plans for software!!!

I only like buying lifetime perpetual license planes that I can upgrade if and when I see it is needed to keep my software up-to-date and compatible with new Windows versions. Or if I see that the new software has great new features that I want than I may go-ahead and upgrade the software earlier. But paying a subscription fee that comes out automatically is something I absolutely hate!!!

Because I was interested in Connection Explorer, and was able to find only subscription purchase option.

Subscription software has kind of taken over because users willingness to pay what a lifetime license would cost has changed.

For example, Object Desktop on OS/2 was $129. (mind you, in 1994 dollars)   You got v2.x of it and that was it.  But today, few users are willing to do that, especially given how fast software moves.  So you prorate the price over 3 years to get a per year cost.

I don't know a single subscripton more worth in terms of what You get in return than Object Desktop. Not one.

Connection Explorer requires a subscription as we have to provide the location data for the IP address lookups and that's an on-going expense and the location data changes daily.
