Win11 main screen on laptop "desktop" is changing icon symbols after Start11 Update last week
- icons/sympbols of all program links on desktop main window change from white page to standard icon continously every second
- no matter what parameter I change.
- Start11 was running fine with former version (September release). No Problems. After update last week, problem started.
Installed/current Versions: Window 11, version 25H2, Start11 Version 2.56 Business edition

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. First, please try, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately (important), download latest version available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.
If the issue still appear we need few more details.
Thank you,

I've been trying to get the 30 day trial to work for the latest Start 11. (I can't say exactly which version because it won't let me past the little trial activation popup window over the main window, but I downloaded it from here tonight, so....) However, I've tried to click on the Activate button in my email from two different browsers (Librewolf and Opera GX), and am getting the same error regardless:
The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.
Requested URL:/sas/2014-02-01/validation/validate/MTIwMTIwMDU0fG9ueXhkcmFnb25zdHVkaW9AZ21haWwuY29tfG95di95cEV0TzFQTTFpUWVPNTF3L25BdTFXall0Vm4rZkY0M3RoQ0kyTUJidFBFazAwM0hpZz09fDI2NzR8U3RhcnQxMSB2MnxGYWxzZXxUcmlhbA==
Both browsers are up to date, but that's honestly irrelevant. A 404 error like this shows up literally only when there is not the expected resource. It looks like an upgrade happened and the software wasn't reconfigured properly to automatically generate the necessary URL in the emails.
Also, I didn't post the info here, but whoever is running your IT backend needs to change the 404 message. The above is great troubleshooting, but the .NET framework and the ASP.NET versions are listed on that page too. That's literally ***begging*** for a hack across whatever problems are known to exist on those versions of the software.
I have the same issue as WolfHawke. I have a Surface Pro 9 running Windows 11 25H2 with an additional external monitor. My setup is very similar to theirs.
The start icon on the monitor is the correct size, whereas the icon on the Surface pro screen is small and offset to the left.
Here are some pictures of the issue:

We see the issue and are working on it, thank you for the report.

Hi Onyx-Dragon,
The trial activation should now be working normally. Please try again at your convenience.

Verified complete. Thanks a million !!

Which menu style are you using as centred text is what I would expect with the Win11 style in Start11. The win10 look would be left aligned though.
Windows 10 Style
Can't this be offered as an option for all styles? Like hiding text, for example? This is also not available in the original Windows 10.
I'm going to move this into it's own thread below, so we can work on it, sorry.
Just updated AMD GPU drivers and discovered that Taskbar is showing on both oh my 2 monitors:

I'm quite sure it didn't happen before but I can't find an option to display the Taskbar only on primary monitor... was it removed from v2.56?
Thanks.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Have you look at your Windows setting? Under Windows 11 taskbar setting->Taskbar behaviors_>Disable/un-tick "Show my taskbar on all displays" This should force your taskbar only appear on your primary monitor.

Thank you,

Thanks for youre replay,
I'd swear it was a Start11 setting... I was wrong.
Solved.

Will you fix this issue Stardock team?

It is always best to create your own new thread so we can help you there better. For this one. First try updating your Windows to recent version such as 24H2 or 25H2. Try that first and report back. Also, try restart Explorer.exe everytime you change monitors layout.

Thanks for the response basj.
I thought this was the thread to give feedback on the v2.56. The feedback is providing you the information on a bug, for which I know the workaround. But still need a fix. ![]()
Can't really do that. It's an Enterprise laptop where upgrading the Windows version is not under my control.
That is the workaround for the bug. I shouldn't need to restart.
And once known, we sometimes split them off to work on them further - so its not mixed with other reports and tracking suffers.

The changes to the German language file (Github) probably haven't been implemented yet. I've just made a few more adjustments.
Yes, but I worked around it by saving each website as an app (MS Edge) and then pinning the app to Start 11. This way the pinned item displays the website icon correctly.
