I'm at a loss about how to best relay this...

Our friend Nikos (adni18) has apparently passed away...

This is very hard to relate to you. I'll try to do it as factually as I can, but that will be difficult, as Nikos was a friend, as he was to many here at WinCustomize and Stardock.

I should say that I haven't found a public document concerning his passing, so I'm relying on emails I received from his widow.

I sent an inquiry and learned through his widow, Mrs. Adamamas, that he passed away suddenly and unexpectedly about a month ago.

I don't know what took our friend and honestly, it really doesn't matter, in the end. All that really matters is that he's gone. So, let's concentrate on his life, and not on that fraction of an instant in which life departed from his talented hands...the hands of a reconstructive, cosmetic Dentist who practiced his art for many years in his home town, Thessaloniki, Macedonia, and a digital artist of note who received awards and prizes...among them Master Skinner here at WinCustomize.

Nikos Adamamas, aka adni18, has studied at Universities in Rome and Thessaloniki, in Medicine, Dentistry and in Design Arts.

Our CEO Brad Wardell, said back in 2003 that: “…his downloads, rank him in the Top 15 most popular computer company’s worldwide, among them Microsoft, Yahoo etc with 8,000 to 15,000 persons downloading his work from the internet, on daily basis”. That was 22 years ago. Today, Nikos takes first and second place in downloads with Vista Plus having 966,239 downloads and XP Professional III having 794,737. That doesn't even begin to touch his site's (adni18.com) downloads and his downloads from many other sites such as deviantArt, Art Majeur, etc. It has been estimated, that more than 120.000.000 people from the entire cyberworld accessed and use his artwork, over the past 17 years, counting only some Internet statistics." - Art Majeur.

None of this begins to pay tribute to Nikos as a person and as a friend...a good, kind, funny and sensitive man.

His art brought beauty to so many and more beautiful smiles to so many faces.

Bless you, Nikos. Rest well, fine man, great artist and good friend.

Please take the time to visit his sites here:

here:

https://www.adni18.com/paintings.php

and his 45 pages of submissions here, at WC:

https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/all/search/adni18

The huge volume of his artwork is simply...superb.

Νίκο, παλιέ μου φίλε, αναπαύσου καλά. Ελπίζω να μπορέσουμε να συναντηθούμε για ένα ποτήρι ρετσίνα κάποια μέρα. Αυτό θα ήταν υπέροχο...

A true loss. Although I did not know him personally, I have always considered him one of the pioneers in making window customization's a true art. His work will live on and continue to be important.

R.I.P. old friend.

I have many memories from over 20 years ago of our conversations about skinning. He was so helpful and genuine and had an infectious enthusiasm for art in general. The world has lost a great artist.

I knew about this a week ago, however, I've been unable to login until just now. It's taken a week for support to fix my login. Apologies for the tardiness.

I actually found out about this on another thread and posted something.  I then found this thread and just thought I'd pay repects to him here as well.

I used his WindowBlinds and his Wallpapers.  I even got to chat with him once after purchasing one of his themes from his website.   I did not know until today that he had passed.  I didn't know him, but he certainly was one of the very top skinners ever.  His artwork is incredible and will continue to give us joy into the future.

Thank you Nikos!

N.p., Fuzzy. I'm just glad you're finally home. (\B):vulcan:(\B)

Something bizarre is going on with the smilies.

I'm not allowed to login because...?
1) I'm too evil
2) I'm too awesome

Possibly both XD

Oh yeah, fix my (\B):vulcan:(\B)
Hope nobody's been using it while I was gone...

Actually? Neither. It seems the act of you logging in plays havoc with Boolean logic only computer systems, Fuzzy.

Hope nobody's been using it  (:fuzzy:  ) while I was gone...

The only one who used it turned out to be Leonard Nimoy...I think it was because he was jealous of your ears.

I've read, re-read, looked at, and looked again at this thread, and I still don't know how to respond.

What a legend...

To say he'll be missed woefully understates it.

Just... thanks for all of it, Nikos.

All of it.

This is sad news. Sending love to his friends and family, and prayers for his peace. adni18 was one of my favorites, and was always so kind. His skins are among my most used. We'll remember him fondly. R.I.P. adni18.

You beat me to it, Doc. I'm still struggling with the loss of Nikos as a very good, honest, polite, very kind friend.<X3

That's the truth, Jan. It doesn't sink in. All the talks on messenger. His big heart, mind and artistic vision and skill...a true Renaissance man just disappeared. There's a hole in this world Nikos's size and shape.

I just realized it is Christmas wallpaper time

Over the years I would be in a hurry and spell CHRISMAS like that!!!

And every year Nikos would send me a note saying I DID IT AGAIN, and

I had to go and fix it.Him and Frankie made the best holiday walls <X3

Darn, this ain't fair.

Why do good, talented people have to go? And, even worse, their sites full of masterpieces go down as well?

I knew Nikos from way back, at least 35 years. He gave me a carte blanche to use his wallpapers for the creation of many Blackbox themes and we created at least two sites, blackbox4windows being the only one active till recently.

He was an extremely talented person, a real serious art worker and a good friend over the years. I will always remember him and I extend my sympathies to his wife and all common friends who knew him and worked with him - Seth, Barbara, countless people.

Nίκο, εμείς οι δυο θα τα ξαναπούμε. Και, με λίγη τύχη, θα δημιουργήσουμε ξανά. Στο επανειδείν, φίλε μου!

Indeed, pitkon. Many people have been saddened by Nikos's passing. He made many friends on his way through life. I think he'd be among the many who have gone before to ask, "What's next?".

I hope whatever is next grants Nikos the loving kindness and happiness he deserves...and grants him beauty commensurate with the beauty he left behind. ❤️
