I want your opinion and I want to know why this was rejected...

This is my wallpaper that I submitted.

I don't know how to reach an admin.

Tell me if I should at least contact one... Or keep trying. I feel like this is better than some of the other ones that I'm seeing on the Wallpaper shots.

I'm posting this here cause I want opinions.

Hi Dark Mist long time no see!

It looks more like powdered sugar than snow... Snow will pile up, drift and have wildly varrying depths with rocks sticking out completely uncovered.  I spend at least a week every year on Mt Shasta, sometimes in the winter when there is snow everywhere like in your image. I've never seen it look like this though.

It reminds me of powdered sugar donuts. I happen to love those kind of donuts so I have a better impression of your wallpaper for that. Looks like heaven

This is similar to a lot of the "water" landscapes that have no shoreline and no shallow depth where the water meets the land. No waves or eddys that give the nature version its complexity. Your brain will reject a landscape that doesn't have these subtleties just as much as it would be baffled by a perfectly symetrical landscape.

btw - I didn't moderate this one but I did moderate one of your others and we had what I thought was a pleasant conversation by email about it. I'm confused by your statement that you don't know how to contact an admin as you contacted me from the letter I had sent you.

I miss you saying that. John!

Anyways...I'm stayin' out of this one

i understand, at the point of 'millions of posts that all look alike'.

i'd never attack the system which is moderated-above all else-volentarily and say 'you should do this or that'. but to counter you jafo, what if the least downlaoded ones were d r o p e d out to favor a new one? it may be the same thing to some people but at least it changes, and with that movement it would only get better. but that would only be a suggestion if it could be done automatically.. no one should have to sift through and swap wallpapers all day and i'm not in the position to recommend how things are run. 'tis just a thought.

i think the thing that irks me the most is the inconsistancy in what i see get through and what does not, mainly with the non functional ones when something that works perfectly well is labeled 'non functional'. it seems if one person doesnt like it, someone simply has to upload again and run the chance someone else will let it through.

but again, i understand how things can get monotemous. (sp?) i just think in this case we had a perfectly good wall that got the shaft because of its forefathers

aw well. i'm done

_end of line

blah. what's the string to do an em dash?

To be honest, DC, it's not a "perfectly good wallpaper", you're right though, it did get the shaft because of it's forefathers. Wallpapers like that IMO were good before because they were original, but now, with the plethera of landscape wallpapers, they have to be either extremely original, or extremely well done to get through..
(that would be my guess at least, I can't read admins minds...at least not yet...*evil laughter*)

/me apologizes for the off-topicness of the preceeding message

That link was not even funny! Why would you even watch it, "too many times"?

To me it just seems like another Terragen image. I've seen them so many times and very few seem to impress me anymore and therein lies the answer.
A good landscape image, Terragen or otherwise, is one that you can tell from your first look that a lot time and effort has been put into it. It is creative and made not by relying on what the software randomly generates, but on what, primarily, comes out of your head and then can push the software to do to get the result you're after. This not only means you create a great image but that you come up with more innovative ways to create more images which in turn will stand out from the rest, creating your own niche in the wallpaper image arena.

It's the creative process in your head that matters, not the one in the software.

** End of Rant **

You shouldn't take the rejection in a bad way. The admins are very use to seeing rendered landscapes, and even real landscapes. Try to get your work good enough to get pass them. Then, you will know that you have passed the critics who know about the program. Once you get pass them, I am sure we will all be in amazement at your work.

Personally, I won't judge your work. It has already been judged.

Wallpapers...

I generally just pass by any that looks like a photo. Well, because if I want a photo I'll just go over to webshots and get one that was done by a professional.

Here, I like ones that are created and make me go ummmm....
or make me go brzzz....
or make me go ack thppt...
