Forced Peace - come on..

I am playing a large map.  For no explicable reason the Arceans declared war - even though they are far across the galaxy and nowhere near my territory.  Every few turns they demand a surrender and drive my stats down.
FIne.

I build out and start creating a path to them.  Through several star lanes I finally get there.  Just in time to have peace forced upon me - with *negative* terms.

What the flying frisbee?   How is that fun?

Even more fun - I am at permanent war with another race.  This makes no sense!  Kill the war and peace code and let the players decide!

I've seen strange behaviour from that system as well. Sometimes it behaves as you would expect, other times it behaves exactly like what you are describing. I have no idea what makes it do one or the other. Thx for the report though, I've forwarded it along to the team!

I had a similar situation. Torian declared war on me. So I started attacking them, conquering a few planets. They have not come close to any of my planets, so the war is going very well for me. At first they offer to "pay" for a ceasefire, but I turned them down because I didn't think I was done with the war yet. Now, suddenly, I'm forced into a ceasefire with them and have to pay them resources! That is not going to happen, so I guess I'm done with GalCiv IV :-( I'm not spending another 18 hours to have this happen again. If I ever feel like playing GalCiv again, it is back to GalCiv III for me...
