WC File Watcher...

Just decided to upgrade my DX to 2.1, and I noticed he Wc File Watcher, which supposedly updates to new themes upload on WinCustomize right? Well, when I started it, Norton pops up saying a Malicious code is about to be executed, DX also receives an error, so I disabled the script. What was that?

No supposition about it, it does exactly what it is supposed to do...

Two part answer: 1. That was your Firewall telling you to configure it to allow communications with that specific script... Anything not know, or setup so Norton knows of it is labeled Malicious if it accesses the ports and also writes to the drive (which temp files do)... Time for you to crack the manual and configure Norton, or do not run that or any other script which gives you that error. Because DX scripts are not created for specific firewalls, computers or users (other than the person who makes it for them self and shares it with others). 2. DX is going to error because Norton Blocked the script... How DX handled it I am not sure, but if you have something told to do something and another application refuses to let it do it, it *will be an error* by definition. Now the really odd thing here is I run NIS Pro in various releases which do *not* give me any problem in the least running DX or any scripts...

Hmm...my firweall does react to things but it never makes my Norton have problems. If its just a connection thats needed, I'll get a message, and I'll allow DX to connect to whatever it needs, and I've doe this before with no problem (like the weather and cnet news objects) but THIS particular object ticked off Norton...

could be the updated scriptblocker... the script might be interacting with the IE engine in a manner tha Norton doesn't understand or like much... when you get the error there should be a link for "more info" on it, also, you can look in the events viewer in XP admin tools and also Nortons logs to see what Norton said in more detail...

Might find what is causing it to trigger..
