Secondary PC can't connect to primary PC

Hi,

I have user that is trying to get Multiplicity set up between their desktop (primary) and laptop (secondary). I've gone through all the steps in the quick start guide but I can't get their two computers to connect. They are both on the same Domain network and have the same encryption key, but when I test the connection I get an error that says "Please check the firewall settings on the secondary, the computer name, and the IP Address". I've since added Inbound and Outbound rules for the Multiplicity ports and applications to the secondary and primary computers respectively, but no dice.

We have a network Firewall, but the traffic between the two devices shouldn't be hitting that and I don't see any indication that it is or that it's blocking anything related to either IP.

The only thing I can think of is that neither device has a static IP address? I'm not super familiar with Multiplicity beyond what I've tried to get set up so I'd really appreciate any help.

Thank you

First thing we need to know is what version of Multiplicity are you running and what OS?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more details than that.

  1. Please post Windows 10 full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe.
  2. Please post Multiplicity 4 full version number.

Thank you,

Need to know the OS Build number please. Something like these. Use Winver.exe that come with your Windows OS.

Sorry about that the build number on the primary computer is 19045.5608 and the build number on the secondary computer is 19045.5679.

Adding via IP Address rather than Host Name seemed to solve the problem.

Excellent, ty for the update.

@tastychips12

I will try your solution tonight. Every time I turn my PCs off and turn them back on, Multiplicity has issues finding my 3rd PC. Tried everything under the sun. Searched for hours on forums etc. Was up till 3am. Hoping your suggestion works!
