Windows Update

MS trying to install a Development Channel Preview

I have been running the Windows 11 Pro (Beta Channel) OS for about a year now without any issue. I made the choice to run this version instead of the Current Channel to avoid Microsoft trying to automatically update my system to 24H2. It has been great because it's very stable and MS has been backporting 24H2 features to the Beta Channel once they have been stabilized.

Last week, Microsoft has started nagging me to update to 24H2 - 26120.3073. I'm not sure why they want me to upgrade from the Beta Channel to the Development Channel, but I'm not planning on doing this.

Is this the Insider Preview that users have been reporting reeking havoc on Stardock software?

I don't believe keeping 23h2 on the beta channel was ever intended to be permanent. I suspect that the 24h2 build will eventually be the only build offered on the beta channel. Every once in a while Microsoft puts the same build on two channels like this. I think they are just in the process of moving things around and reorganizing their channels back to their normal state.

I have been running the release channel version of 24h2 for a while myself. Its actually gone really smooth and I haven't noticed any issues on this channel or felt the need to leave it due to compatibility issues.

I am tempted to test the beta channel version of 24h2, there is a "go back" button after all if it isn't a good build.

Quoting DrJBHL,

Good article. Thanks

24H2. I was half asleep and decided to do it. It was a long update, and the first try failed. Then I ran sfc /scannow and slid right in with no muss or fuss.
