There is any trick to remove the barriers? The barrier is on the side, the wastebin can't be moved to left and the space between the nexus bar and the bottom of the screen.

Yes. In the Nexus config window, don't distance from the edge of the screen.

Hi

regarding: am assuming your 2.49 picture is an early 2.49 build

It is 2.49.2, it is one with a bug in the systray..

Thx

what is the exact name of the config? I can't find it as "distance from the edge.."

Actually, I was able to find it.

But it doesn't do anything.  It just keeps them at the bottom.  I use Windows 11Pro, fully updated, and do all my work in a two-screen VM.

Was this an upgrade over an earlier Start11 build?  If so uninstall Start11, REBOOT and then reinstall it.

Yes, it was on by default, but the icons look bad even if I reduce their size.

I upgraded start11 to version 2.5 rebooted the computer as instructed by the installation and I have had problems ever since.

Items on my top-positioned task bar on my secondary monitor become unresponsive, whereas I never had this problem before.

Pattern to reproduce this: be active in a window on my primary monitor, then click on a anything on the taskbar of my secondary monitor and there is no response.  If i right-click over an item on that unresponsive second monitor's taskbar I get the "configure start11..." menu as if there is nothing at that position on the taskbar even though there are many items on the top taskbar, such as windows 11 explorer (grouped as 1), 2 chrome windows, 2 word windows, 1 pdf window.  Moving more or fewer windows to/from that monitor to the other doesn't seem to affect it.  And by the way, when that "configure start11..." menu appears, it flickers the top 0.5" of the visible window so all the tabs on chrome; this also didn't happen with the prior start11).

The only way I can bring focus to a window on my second monitor is Win-Tab, then click on an app (on that second monitor's desktop) then it gets the focus, and then for a brief while I can toggle again between windows (on that second monitor) by clicking on their icon on the taskbar. But when I shift the focus to a window on my main monitor, the problem repeats on that second monitor's taskbar: nothing happens when i click any of the icons of the open windows on the taskbar (on that second monitor).

When I mouse over the taskbar when it is working, it shows previews of the windows.  But when it does not work it shows nothing.  It's as if start11 doesn't believe there are any icons on that taskbar.

This problem only exists on my second monitor; the primary monitor's taskbar behavior seems fine.

How do I revert back to a prior version of start11 so I can have a working second monitor again? The previous version was glitchy but not this bad because i never had a problem.

Configuration: Win10 style. Taskbar: "Let start11 enhance" ON. Medium taskbar size. Position: primary: align top; secondary: align top. On primary display and secondary display: Never combine taskbar buttons. Show taskbar buttons on: taskbar where window is open.

Windows 11 specs:

Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 23H2
Installed on ‎Sep ‎29, ‎2024
OS build 22631.4751
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1055.0

My laptop monitor is set to be the secondary monitor; I set the usb-c-attached monitor to be my primary monitor in windows 11, which is to the physical right of the laptop monitor.

I have since restarted my computer and this problem persists exactly as it was before the restart.

Is your laptop a touch screen device?

It only happens if you have enhanced taskbar enabled in Start11.

I believe mine is enabled.

In WorkShelf, docks can reserve space from rhe edge. I'd bet that's what's happening. In my screenie, you can see the reserved space between the edge on the right and in the other screenie from the left vertical task bar.

The search bar doesn't work at all when i have the taskbar aligned at the top. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, i was also on the beta before the official 2.5 release and it had the same behavior.

Just installed this version - all appears to work, apart from the fact that with a vertical taskbar on either left or right side, my desktop icons don't stay put!  If I disable Start11's management of the taskbar and use the latest explorer patcher instead everything works as expected and my icons stay where I put them. Windows is fully updated too.

What do you mean by icons do not stay put?

Installed 2.5 and now there is a reserved space down the left side when setting apps to full screen. The space is the width of the taskbar. ObjectDock docked toolbars/quicklaunch across the top or bottom is pushed out of the reserved space, though manually resizing apps to use the whole screen still seem to work.

Microsoft Outlook upon reboot doesn't show emails on taskbar.

Whenever I restart my computer with Outlook and emails open, Outlook will automatically restart but most of the emails don't show on the taskbar.

I have the Windows setting "Automatically save my restartable apps and restart them when I sign back in" turned ON.

So, after it launches Outlook, I have to hover over the Outlook taskbar item and then click on each individual email thumbnail preview in order for it to show on the taskbar.  This has happened for versions of Start11 now and on both Win10 and Win11.

Is this a known issue?

I'm using Start 11 v2 version 2.5 on Win11 24H2 at both work and home.  I no longer have a Win10 PC but the issue was still there a few months ago.

At work, I'm using Outlook 365 version 2412 Build 16.0.18324.20092.

At home, I'm using Outlook LTSC MSO version 2408 Build 16.0.17932.20190.

Thanks,

Greg

For those with some 2.5 issues we have a test build

New beta build replaces this so use that version on the store now.

Changes :

1) Hopefully resolved issue with explorer windows popping up on Win11 with ExplorerPatcher and potentially could happen on Win10 too.

2) Resolved some issues with work areas with WinStep when using enhanced taskbar and Winstep reserving screen space.

3) Resolved issue with run as admin for some pinned shortcuts in Win10/11/etc menus

4) Resolved issue with non functional taskbar buttons on secondary screen when focus is set to the taskbar or desktop sometimes

5) Fix for workspace calculation when taskbar is at the top of the screen in some situations

6) Removed excess line in Win10 all apps list at the top.

7) Tweak for apps which setup workspace areas which start at bootup

Please do let us know if this helps.  I recommend uninstalling first, rebooting and then installing the new build.

Hi Neil,

Looks like it's fixed my issue with the 'Windows Explorer windows popping up' Thanks team!

- I uninstalled 2.074 with the Remove Settings option
- Rebooted
- Installed the Start11_2.5.1.0-j191-Setup.exe update
- Everything looked good as I dragged and manipulated the different windows as I did before to try to recreate the issue but it did not.
- Proceeded to Restore from my Saved Settings file which I created from v2.11
- Things still look to be working great!

Thanks again and hope the other user issues work out as well! 🤞🏼

Yes. In the Nexus config window, don't distance from the edge of the screen.

Maybe it's me and my insufficient english text comprehension but I keep thinking it works:

This is my desktop, Enhanced bar on, Taskbar upside (with autohide on), distance from the edge zero in WinStep and 2 docks (1 bottom and 1 right)... I can't see anything strange.

Thanks for sharing, hope my post will be useful.

Since some versions I have this issue that is still present:

Start11 v2.51 beta, Windows 24H2 build 26100.2894), Enhanced Taskbar on, Taskbar in the upper side of the monitor with Autohide on, WinStep Extreme with 2 docks on lower and right sides (but this seems not to be relevant), 2 monitors (main on the right 3440x1440 secondary on the left 3840x2160).

As far as I keep Y offset to small in "Advanced rounded taskbar settings" everything works smoothly, when I change the value to none (and after restarting Explorer) if I move/add an icon to the Desktop, the first icon in the upper left side of the main monitor slips on the seconday monitor. So far I didn't understand if any other Taskbar option influences this behaviour.

Thansk again for your support!

Quoting johnkay1402,

Try uninstalling ExplorerPatcher, rebooting, installing Start11v2.5 and rebooting. I think/bet it'll work fine. I think EP is interfering with Start11v2.5.

Nope - I did that. Uninstalled EP, updated Start11, configured vertical taskbar, and watched as my icons kept getting moved around every time I unhid the taskbar. I configured the taskbar for auto-hide, as it had been set with EP installed, and which works just fine with EP. Without autohide things are normal.

WinStep Extreme with 2 docks on lower and right sides (but this seems not to be relevant)

Exactly what I'm saying, also. I don't think there's any problem with SD software and Winstep. Winstep docks will be where you define their position. If you move your taskbar to where your docks are, they'll move to accommodate the taskbar.

I forgot to write I'm using WinStep Extreme but I only load into Windows WorkShelf... I disabled NextStart as Start11 is faaaaar better.

If only ObjectDock would improve a little, I'd get rid of WinStep software (that seems almost an abandoned project).

Same here. Not abandoning Winstep because it's so customizable.

If you're talking about the vertical taskbar, it's in the Enhanced taskbar settings>Additional settings.
