So I managed to improve my situation (I had a problem with Desktop icons being displayed madly on 2 monitors), this is the useful link I found :

Windows 10 pc moves all my desktop icons to secondary monitor every startup : r/windows

Now new files are displayed on main monitor and not on secondary.

For the other problem I managed to produce a video:

As you can see, right clicking on Edge icon in the Taskbar makes the menu 'flickering' for some seconds (acts the same way when right clicking on Explorer icon), instead right clicking on Start button correctly shows the menu but child submenu is displayed on top and not on bottom.

Start11 v2.49.2 beta, Windows version 24H2 build 26100.2605.

Hope some mod answers this time!

You have to change the video access to public. When it's private, only you can see it.

Ops... sorry, I'm not so expert, made my YouTube account just for this video... hope now it works!

Running the latest version  of Win 11 on desktop and laptop.

I have the vertical taskbar configured for the right side of the screen.

On occasion the taskbar does not populate, i.e.: nothing shown in it. This occurs most often when returning from hibernation; however, it also occurs on startup as it did this morning on my laptop.

The start menu can still be accessed by clicking on the blank taskbar in roughly the position the start menu icon would appear as show in the attached screen capture.

Do you have any apps pinned to the taskbar? If not, pin at least one app to the taskbar and see if that changes this behavior.

I just installed the v2.5 beta.

It has fixed an issue I recently noticed where I didn't have a context menu for taskbar items when I right-clicked on them.

However, this minor issue I reported in July is still there: https://forums.stardock.com/529090/page/1/

My current Windows version is Windows 11 Home 24H2 Build 26100.2605

When START11 is running correctly:

It just forgets to populate the taskbar on occasions

I just found a more serious issue. When my taskbar is top-aligned, the hidden icon menu for the system tray won't display. I click the "^" and it just flips upside down, with no menu of hidden icons displayed.

When I change my taskbar to align to the bottom, the hidden icon menu displays as expected.

I'm using v2.49.2 with Windows 11 Home 24H2 Build 26100.2605. As far as I know, I'm not using any other apps that would interfere with this.

The updated beta addressed this issue.  You should reinstall it if you have not already.

If it does not resolve it, does restarting Windows Explorer do it?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I tested this but I can not reproduce your issue refer my short video below. Tested on Windows 11 24H2 (OS Build 26100.2605), Start11 v2.49.2

Would like to recommend to try these steps, uninstall Start11, reboot immediately (important) Re-download latest version from your account, install it, reboot immediately again after installation is done. Retest it and report back.

Hello and thanks for your support.

I already did the unistall-reboot-reinstall-reboot sequence but did it another try and discovered that both problems disappear. But as soon as I load my settings backup, they pop out again, so I reset all settings and started tweaking one per time and came to understand which are the options that trigger the problems:

Child menu misaligned:

Not 100% sure about this one because the description says "reboot required" and don't know if it's a SO reboot or an Explorer restart.

Trembling right-click menus:

Hope this helps!

I had the same reasons as JLTGR to stay on Windows 10. Then I read that Start11 was now able to force the taskbar to my prefered right side of the screen, so I purchased and installed it on my freshly upgraded Windows 11 Pro 24H2 rig. But no go: stable version 2 is not able to.

But then someone online pointed me to the beta. And that works just fine |-)   (for the most part).
My steps: first align default taskbar to center, set prefered taskbar and Start button position in Start11, restart Explorer et voilà!

No problems with portable programs or delays. But the network symbol is now upside down and like in JLTGR's example the sound icon is off set. The very small and ugly time and date font is a known Windows 11 error.

BTW: I have two local accounts. One daily user and one administrator. I installed and tweaked Start11 from within the admin account. Then, only had to fine tune a few things in the user account.

Update Dec. 31
I notice a delay immediately after logging in (on both accounts). It takes 1 to 3 seconds for the taskbar to reposition from the bottom to the right of the screen.

Having all the signing, locking, restarting and shutting down under one single button is great.

When trying to launch certain games / apps under universal applications for the first time, get the following error when windows is trying to install what I'm guessing is some dependencies for the game. Looks like mostly DX or VC++ redists.

Looks like this exists on my machine but its...

C:\Windows\System32\CustomInstallExec.exe

Maybe case is an issue?

Pretty sure this has always been an issue, not just on the new beta.

Any insights here? This was on v2.49.2

OK, this problem goes away when I use the Enhanced Taskbar. I didn't use Enhanced (on either 2.11 or the 2.5 beta) before today.

As has been reported before, using the Enhanced Taskbar, when centered, does take away the left-aligned Widget that I was using to display weather info.

Another bug. When installing programs, sometimes they don't appear in the Start11 menu. Holding down Ctrl to bring up the standard W11 Start menu shows the programs in the "New" section and in the alphabetical all-programs section as expected. Going back to the Start11 menu and the programs are missing. (Sometimes they appear at a later time.)

I think it's just a case of the Start11 program list not being updated when a new program is installed. What initiates the Start11 menu being updated, I wonder?

Is this a known bug? If so, I'll leave it with you. If not, I'll provide the version info and see if I can find a repeatable example.

Update Jan. 1  Happy 2025
The system tray network symbol has miraculously restored itself to its upright position. The sound icon is still slightly off.

Another thing I noticed, but have to reproduce to be sure it's not a temporary Windows glitch:
After a reboot from my Linux disk to Windows I let the system load unto the login screen but did not login.
After a half hour or so I finally logged in and noticed that none of the taskbar- or system tray icons were loading. The taskbar was there and on the correct right side of the screen, but totally empty. Right mouse click and ctrl-alt-del did not trigger anything, but the Start11 start button and menu functioned as normal, so after a new reboot and immediate login all was normal and functioning again.
If it happens again when I repeat the situation, I will let you know.

Hi,

Build in "hidden icon menu" is not wokring. There is nothing behind if you want temporary unhide hidden icons in the systray. If you disable this in Windows settings menu they also not comming, so all the items which are hidden behind the system "Hidden icon menu" are not available. i did a cross check, downgrade to non Beta and the functionality is restored. So the issue is from the Beta.

I have found this issue occurs when not using the Enhanced Taskbar. Once I changed to using that, the hidden icon menu comes back.

This may be one that you don't want to fix. If you install Explorer Patcher, it initially seems that there is no way to get to its Properties menu with Start 11 in use. Of course, many of its tweaks are also available in Start11, but some are not. Without Start11 installed, if you install EP, you get a Properties option when you right-click the taskbar. With Start11 in use, this item does not appear. However, there is a workaround as Explorer Patcher (Properties) does appear in the Start Menu.
