File Explorer and File Dialogs nonfunctional WB11.02 after Windows Update

Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Insider Preview (10.0.22635.4515) (KB5046756)

Since I installed Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Insider Preview (10.0.22635.4515) (KB5046756), File Explorer will no longer switch to any folders when I try to browse. It stays on the first screen that it opens with. Also, any app that uses the built-in File Open or Save dialogs from Windows won't open the proper dialog box.

To confirm, I uninstalled the update and verified the behavior.

After reinstalling the update, I have determined that I can use the Default theme setting in Windowblinds to effectively work-around this issue. If I apply any other windowblind, the issue returns.

I am running dual monitors if that matters.

I recently installed the next update from 12/7 and the problem still persists. Anyone else seeing this issue on these builds?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, do know that Stardock does not support Windows insider preview/Beta build. However, I have forwarded your issue to Stardock Support Team for their review. We appreciate your feedback.

Thank you.

This issue continues to persist. Can someone at least confirm or deny if they see this issue in current insider builds?

Like what Basj said. Stardock does not support Windows 11 Insider Preview builds. Those versions of windows tend to change things fairly fast which breaks software. Windowblinds is not designed to be used on that. If you want to use windowblinds on windows11, you need to leave the insider program and reset to stock windows. You wont be getting any updates regarding that version of windows till way after its released.

I just tested Windowblinds 11 on the latest "release preview" channel version of Windows 11 and I am not experience any issues on this channel.

However, the beta version I am testing is for 24h2. It looks like you are on the beta channel which has beta's specifically for 23h2 or the 2023 version of Windows 11. I have seen reports of this channel breaking compatibility so you may have a bug.

I am curious though, is there a reason why you are sticking to 23h2 beta's rather then updating to 24h2?

We have reproduced this and are investigating it.  Initially looking like a very simple tweak needed.

I just installed latest WindowBlinds (11.02) and have the same problem. File Open Dialog is not working in any application. Only way to fix is unloading WindowBlinds.

Windows Version: Windows 11 Pro 24H2 - Build 26100.3037

It also broke my Start 11. The Start Button is gone.

The lastest version for Windowblinds is 11.04. Please download this version, install it, reboot, retest and report back.

It worked. Not sure why version 11.02 was not detecting the latest update.

Thanks for help.

Same here. It didn't detect the new version and when I installed 11.04, the setup completed but it didn't update. I had to uninstall 11.02 and then reinstall 11.04. After that, things are back to normal and the issue is resolved.

Thank you Stardock Team!!

Quick update to keep this inline with other related threads, the issue reappeared when I installed Windows Update KB5052090. I tried purging WB and reinstalling 11.04 and the issue still occurred.

I have uninstalled KB5052090 and the issue is once again resolved.

Please pass this along.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I believe, Dev team already know about it, and we know sometimes MS change again for its release version. Hopefully a version of WB that compatible with it will be available at that time.
