Moving Desktop in Dropbox keep the icon in folder?

Hello, 

I have installed Fences on my Win 10 PC, I have create many folders and save document on them, from Desktop origin or from Document folder.

Now I want to keep the Desktop in Dropbox so the folder Desktop change the path from:

C:\Users\Me\Desktop to C:\Users\Me\Dropbox\PC\Desktop 

Usually the Windows desktop works fine because restore in the same position the file or folder after moving procedure, but does the fences folders keep the same files in them or the desktop files became a dead link? or will be removed?

Sorry to hear you are having issues. From what I understand Fences need the desktop to be in its official locations. It reads like you are asking about losing your settings by changing their desktop folder.

Fences supports the desktop folder being anywhere on the system, but it stores its data as full paths, not relative to the desktop folder. So, if you change the desktop folder, Fences will continue to work but you may have to put the icons back in their fences. (Icons may fall out of their fences at that one singular time.)

Hi Nico,

So yes, you may experience a one-time icons falling out of their groups as you make this move, but it'll stick after that.

Just out of curiosity, do you have other machines you sync this Dropbox desktop to, where you wish that your Fence groups and layout would sync between the multiple PCs? Or do you prefer the different computers have different groups/layouts?

I think I need to make a "stamp" of all folder to recreate the link in them after moving Desktop.

@Dr W I have only this installation that mixed Fences and Dropbox. This issue is for using the desktop files also in the tablet or to download them from web browser, I dont' have more PC with same dropbox + fences user replication unfortunately.
