Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more information on your system and issue.
- Windows full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe
- Fences full version number.
- Monitor/s information, resolutions, scale setting (100%, 125%, 200% etc), HDR turn on?
Thank you,
Basj,
Stardock Community Assistant.
It may be possible that when you did a right click on the desktop, you may have accidentally changed a setting, such as view icons, such as align icons to a grid, or auto arrange icons. You may want to tinker with those settings, and uncheck those or both, and see if that is where the problem lies.
Thanks for reply
windows 11 , version 23h2 OS Build 22631.3958
fence 2.80
I use 2 same monitors , resolution 1920*1080 - scale 100% , HDR Off(actually not supported)
Are you sure you on Fences v2.08? Not v5.8?
Thank you,
Basj,

It's v5.80 sorry my bad.
Just to confirm something, do you have another Fences desktop page where there is a Fence around that area?
Thank you,

no , I don't have
and it's not happening only on specific area of edge it happen on all left and right edges of my monitors.
when just a little part of a icon overlap with an edge of display it behave unexpectedly.
If you disable "Align icons to grid" and "Auto arrange icons" does the issue goes away?

Thank you,
Basj,

I usually use align to grid but disabling it did not solve the problem. I attached a video of it.
This is what I get on my system (Refer to my video below). But it does link to my second Fences page. Refer to my video. Moving the Fences on my second page resolve the issue on my main Fences page.
Thank you,

Hi all. The team has noted this one, however unfortunately this would be a very complex one to address. We've made note for the future – thank you for the report and detail
Hi hamedagule,
Indeed, as Dr W stated above, we greatly appreciate your post here. We have it logged internally.

To help clarify a bit further your specific issue, however, can you please confirm if you are using the 'Pages' feature from Fences or not? I'm not seeing it mentioned in your posts.
The reason I'd like to know is I've found a couple different things in exploring this, and I appear to have encountered an issue identical to your video even when Fences is not enabled:
https://cdn.stardock.us/support/uploads/WindowsSandboxClient_2024-08-12_10-34-26amcguinness.mp4
In my video linked above, some icon jumping starts to occur when I turn OFF "Align icons to grid" (around the 0:20 second mark). If you turn this back on, (with Fences off) does the same issue happen for you?
Thanks again,

Thanks for your reply.
I don't use 'Pages' feature , and also I use align to grid.
In my device exactly like yours turning off fences and also align icons to grid result same.(windows bug or normal behavior)
but I never disable align to grid in whole my life so I prefer enabling it and have a same behavior in windows and fences.
Thanks again for your attention.
FYI, I don't see this issue on my system. I used files with a 6 line name just to make sure that wasn't the cause. I can not reproduce this issue with "Align Icons to Grid" on or off.
Windows 11 Pro 22635.4010; Fences 5.8.1.9
EDIT: After changing the status of "Align Icons to Grid" on and off a few times, now my system is exhibiting the issue.
EDIT #2: Okay, now I have discovered that it makes a difference how close to the other icon the second icon is dropped. If it is dropped very close to icon 2, it works. If it is dropped a little farther away for icon 2, it jumps down to the next position.
EDIT #3: Well, this issue appears to be intermittent, because I get varying results depending on the interval between attempts.
A keen eye might have noticed the Task Manager window I have open with the process for Windows Explorer in my video linked in Reply #14. This was so I could easily right-click and Restart Windows Explorer between attempts under different settings.
As no doubt the reason behind pelaird's intermittent trouble aswell, Fences is built on both the desktop surface and Explorer. By resetting Windows Explorer after turning Fences off (and checking the Windows context menu's View settings), I was able to operate with a more stable baseline in my test.
By trying this, I expect this should help reach the same conclusion I have, which is that even when Fences is disabled, the original issue can reproduce. As such it's seemingly native to Windows 11, and therefor appreciated to have pointed out and logged so we can keep an eye on it.
Thanks again to all for the helpful posting and feedback.
