Start11 2.1 Beta Feedback Thread

With the Start11 v2.1 beta release today, we are creating this thread so that users can report any observed issues.  

Obtaining Object Desktop Insider Builds

Object Desktop Manager

Object Desktop members can get beta and Insider builds from within Object Desktop Manager with 'Enable Object Desktop Insider builds' enabled:

Obtaining Beta Releases

Stardock.com

If a beta was released, Object Desktop Members would see it in the ‘Object Desktop’ section.

Individual purchases would see it on their registration of the product under their download page.

Steam

  • Right-click the Product in Steam

  • Properties

  • Betas

  • Select the beta branch at the top right (there is no password)

Reporting an issue

Please include the following for anything found:

  • Exact Windows version \ build (winver.exe)

  • Detailed steps to recreate the issue seen

  • Screenshots and videos are very helpful.  Videos can be uploaded to a cloud drive service (GoogleDrive, DropBox, OneDrive, YouTube), with a shared link included in your post.  Images can be copied and pasted directly into a post.

  • If there are specific apps that the app does not work (well) with, please note what apps and their exact versions.  If any app is not common, a link to a trial version would be appreciated.

This looks very strange. I can not reproduce these findings on my system. The drawing of the Config app seems very slow. Have you updated your GPU driver lately?

I can see it on my system. I just need to turn on Windows animation effect. It might also be how my Windows 11 VM box don't have top of the line graphics.

I also have animation effect turned on, and I don't see it. Like I said, maybe if you slow it down you can see this effect. That's why I asked about the GPU.

I'm using Start11v2 option to place taskbar to top of the screen if it matters.

This is entirely normal for Start11 config on Windows 11.

Start the system from cold. When the desktop appears ready, press the Windows key to bring up the start menu. You will notice that the right arrow and any attempt to enter something in the search box is unresponsive until you use the mouse to open an installed app that expects keyboard input.

Thereafter, Start 11 appears to respond as it ought.

Having returned from my month-long travels, I'm pleased to report that this is not your problem. It was down to something called Power Accent which has sat, without issues, in my startup chain for years.

All charges against Stardock are hereby dropped, with apologies ;-)
