Change inteface language - Allow user to configure

How to run Start11 with differnt language to OS

Hi All,

I have windows installed in German and have just installed Start11 which also displays in German. I wish to change this to English  as the initial setup is easier in my native language. I can see translation file in the lang directory so both are available but German is automagically selected and I cannot find any option to change this.

Is it possible to configure the display language for start11 ?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. I believe, if you remove the German language file (C:\Program Files (x86)\Stardock\Start11\lang\de.lng), it should default back to English. Might need to reboot to make the changes.

Thanks

Thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for! A way to disable the text.

I dont care much about the icons being inverted, the text is what bugged my eyes.

I tried deleting all lng files except for en.lng and en-us.lng, will edit after reboot to see if it works or not.

You should post this answer in the original post you created.

@Basj

I now have this same issue on another computer and have the same issue but on this one the systems items on the menu are remaining in German, i.e  "Geräte und Drucker" instead of "Devices and Printers"

My language preference is set to English with German installed as second language, my region settings were Germany but I have changed them to Australia and the menu is still incorrect.

How can I force Start11 to use my preferred language everywhere ?

Have you tried my suggestion in reply#1?

I did and it did not work. It seems this text is stored in the registry.

Hello,
I have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience. Thank you.

Note: Just to confirm, you're using Start11 v2.56, yes? And, you did reboot the system after those changes done?

Thanks

No Start11 language settings are 'stored in the registry'.  What I believe you are seeing is Start11 just reading what Windows is reporting - Start11 is just displaying it.  What may NOT fix this, but have the most effect to have stuff in English, is to copy the en.lng file, paste it back, and rename it to de.lng.  Again, I dont believe that will fix what you are seeing because of what I noted prior.

Thats not entirely true.

On initial creation of the right hand links the current translation the OS is using would be used and this would be saved.

I openly stand corrected - I did not know that.
