why won't some games run

I believe one or more of the wincustomize programs is causing some problems running simple games. I'm using windows xp. Is there any one program I should be disableing before playing these games ie. CursorXP or Windows Blinds?

The question is pretty general. What games, are you trying to run?
What are the specs of your system?

My specs-pentium 4 running xp 512mb ram laptop. Good graphic etc. Scrabble is one of the most recent games it is xp compatible and there have been others. RPG's play fine etc, just the simple games seem to lock up. Any suggestions?

You could try adding a per application exclusion for the game(s) that crash. This way windowblinds will not attempt to skin the program.

it could be window blinds .. are the simple games full screen or are they windowed?a windowed game will seem to lag out and crash. mainly because your video card might not be able to handle the extra graphics rendering needed. i found that games that ran in a window took more out of a v card (cause it has to not only render the game but every thing else visable on your desktop)...smaller v cards seem to have a tough time with all the extras and games too ...

Thanks HG. Peff, I wouldn't really know how to do that. It makes sense because only the windowed games seem to hang. I'll remove Blinds before I play and see what happens.

also if that dont help . look in the task manager to see all what is running ....if need be post a list of all running tasks and il tell u which ones u can turn off when u want to run a game. they will restart at your next reboot tho... not only should this stop the crashing .. but improve the games performance ... i turn off all extras when running my games ..

It's actually very easy to add a per application exclusion. In the display properties, appearance tab, where windowblinds resides, choose advanced. Then in the windowblinds advanced window, under settings, choose per application. Then click, add per application and browse to find the exe on your hard drive. done.

any time . as a long time gamer iv had many issues which i had to resolve on my own. im more than happy to share, what i can with others
