Screenshot section

Wait, I wasn't aware of this. What will happen to the one I uploaded today?

I've noticed a lot of 'missing' ratings on more recent screenshots....probably due to the last server crash....so it's not infact a 'joke' but an unfortunate incidence of 'damaged database'....

Maybe it can be a option is the user settings....someday dunno? Why sweat the small stuff, anyways?

Jafo : The newest ones get initial ratings, but those are under that border of 8. It would be a good thing to be able to vote in SDCentral. I can see them there but I don't like browsing the content of the site via SDC/Skinbrowser (one reason : no rating possible)

I think someone rates them down on purpose. I just saw a screen of a Universe Metal setup that was really great and now it is gone. No chance to re-rate it to be shown (I wanted to rate it when I had to go away from my pc, when I came back, nada...). See the glitch in that system ?

Timelines for proper site access [as we were used to] is dependent on the new servers coming online, naturally...

I think if the ss section ever comes back the Admin. should not do the ratings. There should be no ratings, let the comments speak for themselves.....just a thought

I miss the screenshot section, it has very little purpose as of right now. What a shame...

I know a lot of people miss the ScreenShot section the way it used to be. Just people showing their desktops that they put together. Like the header said "Show off your favorite desktop configuration by uploading a screen-shot of your desktop!" Not "if we think it's an 8 we will show it.

I uploaded a screenshot a few days ago. It got a rating of 8 so it showed up. But 3 views and a rating of seven, and it dropped out of sight.

But what are you going to do. It will get fixed when its fixed. Until then its pretty much a cripped section.

I personally LOVE THE SCREENSHOTS section.

Lately, I haven;t been able to do anything because I need a new computer and I needed to re-subscribe to Object Desktop.


But guess what guys....

I just got my new computer. AND, according to my budget schedule, I will buy Object Desktop in the beginning of Febuary. (Desktop X Pro in April)

So I would advise keeping the screenshot section. As your King I demand it. I also plan on promoting many of the people who are putting up thier screenshots too like SS Goku (The Prince of ScreensSots)

At least the King of downloads is correct. I am sure no one here is willing to admit they downloaded up 7 gigs of stuff. I really like the whole customization thing and that is why I do my best to support it.


Anyway, I think the screenshots section is very important and should get some more attention. People there are pretty nice and it one place where the download count isn't important (or at least it shouldn't be) and its more about making comments.

I usually take a look at the screenshots section after looking around the messageboard. I think most of the comments I have made on this site as far as uploaded stuff is in the screenshot section.



I think if others would support those who put up there screenshots there would be more knowledge about what you can put on your computer (and what types of programs are out there that skin)


I personally found out about different proggies from there (The ScreenShots section).


It would be a sad day if the screenshots section is foregone.

It really is a great way to find different types of skins, programs and combonations there are.

So for the time being, the mods? who approves the initial upload of screenshots gives a rating of 6? And if they "like" the ss, they give it a higher rating to be seen by others in the section?

upside down....yes, as with all sections the screenshots have an initial rating by admin....but to ease server loads the viewable lower limit is raised so a fair proportion of them will not be visible to the casual viewer....a temporary necessary evil...

Maybe some other sections should have similar limits as well. MOST of the recent uploads are either aren't my taste or rush jobs. So limiting them and increasing loading speed of site would be better. Waiting even for one second for things to load is too long.

Yeah, why just not limit it to skins that have a 10 ?

6 is about right. its a little above average (5 being average). Its too busy for me.

Nah, you're probably right. Thing is, I'm stuck @ 1024X768 on this 16"V flat screen monitor. Anything higher and the refresh rate is 75Hz or below which hurts my eyes. So it can tend to look cluttered. I need a new one fast.

I have 1024x768 too. it just takes a little time to get it to not look cluttered. I think mostly the wallpaper made it appear that way to me
