A quick question about Weapons tooltip

Hello again!
Just a really quick question about how to read the Weapons part of a ship’s tooltip:
if e.g. it reads “4x Medium Autocannon - 4.0 dps”, does that indicate the individual dps for each of the 4 turrets or the total?
So in this case, the total dps of all autocannons, if they are all firing, would be 4.0 or 16.0?
A subquestion would be: why do the pirate ships have identical turrets listed individually in their Weapons tooltip?
