Can't Launch game

Cannot launch game from desktop or from epic games launcher. The was previously installed but i had a typical windows crash, unrelated to the game. Long story short. Had to reinstall windows. I downloaded Sins II again and tried to play it. In the epic games launcher, when i hit launch. It says running for about 5 seconds and then says launch again. Nothing happens, when I try from the desk top, nothing happens. I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. The same thing happens, the game will not launch. This is the only game that I'm having an issue with. I Downloaded and installed BG3, WoW, New World. I have no issue with these games and they are all on the same drive. I have one drive that is dedicated to games and that is all. Have no Idea what the issue is, I don't get any type of errors, when I try to run Sins II. In case anyone is wondering, the games are on a Samsung 990 pro 4TB M.2 NVMe drive.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

If you have Windows Controlled Folder access on, please turn it off, then try to run the game:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/allow-an-app-to-access-controlled-folders-b5b6627a-b008-2ca2-7931-7e51e912b034

If that fails, go here:

\Documents\My Games

If there is an

\Ironclad Games

directory, rename it to:

Ironclad Games.OLD

Try to run the game again.

If that fails, a new \Ironclad Games directory should have been created.  In:

\My Games\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire Rebellion\Setting

In Notepad, open rebellion.user.setting and edit the following:

VideoIsWindowed TRUE
VideoWindowMode 2
VideoFullScreenWidth 2560
VideoFullScreenHeight 1440

Save and try to run the game again.

I tried all of the suggestions, the first two didn't work. When I went to edit the "rebellion.user.setting" there was no VideoWindowMode 2 line.

this was what was in that file:

VideoIsWindowed TRUE

VideoRefreshRate 144

VideoFullScreenWidth 2560

VideoFullScreenHeight 1440

VideoWindowedWidth 1920

VideoWindowedHeight 1080

I am not sure what the issue is still. I could unistall the original SIns Rebellion game and then reinatall Sins II. Not sure where to go from here?

You can try using (after unzipping) my settings file:

https://cdn.stardock.us/support/uploads/rebellion.user.zip

If that fails, I would like to ensure you have tried everything here:

https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1357283360/Sins+T%26R+Game+Loading+Issues

Replace the one you have and try again.

Embarrassingly so, I seem to have missed that you are not referring to Sins \ Sins: Rebellion, but rather Sins 2.

That is outside my preview at the moment and will have to ask that someone follow up with you.

Very sorry for the confusion, Pentavelant.

Let's see what we can find out. In File Explorer go to: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\sins2  (replace username with whatever yours is). First thing - does this directory exist?  If so, look in the logs directory and see if there's anything in there. If so, please post it somewhere we can see it. :)

If the sins2 directory doesn't exist at all, then that at least gives us a clue as to where it's dying for you.

So the games is located on my F drive.  F:\EpicGames\SinsII....The only thing I have on my C drive is windows and some personal files, it is only 250gb so there isn't a lot of room. So all my games are located on my F drive. That being said, there is nothing game related In C:\Users\insert name\.

When it did work, was it on C:\?

That path Yarlan asked about was:

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\sins2  (replace username with whatever yours is)

Nothing there?

It has always been on my F drive, even prior to the crash.

This path is not there....AppData\Local\sins2  The C:\user\name\ exist but the rest of the path does not

I received this error message when I tried launching Sins2 from my desktop shortcut. If i use the epic games launcher, it says running for a few seconds and then goes back to launch. I literally uninstalled the game and reinstalled it prior to trying to launch the game from my desktop. I'm totally at a loss. I have uninstalled this game 4 times now.

The link below is from epic games. I don’t know if it is relevant to your issue or would work. Always consider changes like this carefully as I am not recommending this just providing it for your own research.

it kind of sounds like the epic launcher may have become disconnected from the game somehow.

Also usually there is a settings folder for each installed game that can be cleaned to ensure no settings are in the way of launch.

Visual C++ dll apparently got unregistered somehow. Please download the latest from Microsoft via the link below and reinstall, then try running the game:

Also on this page, scroll down a smidge: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-US/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170

What is the specific issue you're running into and what specific steps have you taken to address it?
