New Start Menu Designs, Taskbar Enhancements and Enterprise Features Now in Release Preview

Stardock announced Start11 v2 and the release preview of the industry's most advanced Start menu, today. This program allows users to fully customize the Windows 10 and 11 Start menu experience with unique features, designs, and restore classic functionality from previous versions of Windows.

New with Start11 v2 are three new Start menu styles that seamlessly blend with Windows 10 and 11. Each new style is centered around a different theme: Apps, Professional, and Launcher, and are fully customizable from top to bottom.

Start11 v2 is also enhancing the taskbar with new functionality that makes it faster to access your files and folders. With this release, you can now pin a file or folder directly to the taskbar without having to open File Explorer. And if you want to build your own quick access menu, you can turn a folder into a popup menu for quick access to frequently used files directly from the taskbar.

"This is a significant update and ships with more than two dozen new features” said Brad Sams, General Manager of Stardock Software. “And we are also introducing new enterprise features as well, including the ability to load a Start menu configuration on login, kiosk functionality that lets you lock components of the Start menu, and improved tooling for advanced deployments.”

Also new with Start11 v2 is an updated search experience with native integration with the Everything search engine. Additionally, Start11 v2 introduces the ability to backup and restore your settings from a file, improved animations when navigating within the Start menus, tinting for a unified icon experience, options for removing folders from the ‘all apps list’, and many more.

Start11 v2 is available today for a discounted price of $5.99 (reg. $6.99) during the release preview period and is also included in the award-winning Object Desktop suite.

Bonjour,

Good morning,

My Start11v2 menu has several pages, which I can scroll with the mouse wheel. This is very useful, but when I click on the start button, it is always page 1 that is displayed. I would really like the menu to open on the last page used, and not on page 1 every time.

Hello,
I don't think there is a setting for that, but you can set whichever page to open every time. Also, if you have multiple desktop, you can set different page for different Windows desktop.

Thanks

I just got a Upgrade offer. My original Start 11 was a 1 pc License.  The upgrade says I am eligible for a 5 pc license upgrade. Is this Correct? Will I be able to install Start 11 on a second pc using the upgrade?

You should be eligible to upgrade to the single license option or the multi device option. If you wish to have 5 active installs of start 11v2 just make sure you press the upgrade button under the multi device option. With this option you can do an install on a second, third, fourth and fifth pc.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please create your own new thread so we can help you from there. This one is from early last year. Also, include information such as.

  1. Windows full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe
  2. Start11v2 full version number.
  3. Proper video or screenshot showing us the issue.

Thank you,

FEATURE REQUEST

Running Start 11 v2.51 with Windows 11 24H2.

With Win 11 the active taskbar icons are displayed with a small grey dash underneath. This doesn't really highlight them prominently, in W10 the active icons were easy to spot.

Is it possible please for a future version of S11 to be able to highlight active taskbar items more prominently?

You can set Start11 to draw the taskbar buttons as they were on Windows 10.  This is under enhanced taskbar settings.

Are there live tiles? No.

Promised? Yes.

Once it was explained that it was not possible, the windows system does not support it.

Nevertheless, is there any development that is STILL POSSIBLE to do this? Yes.

That's it.

We have never promised live tiles.

It is a very niche thing as fewer and fewer apps have them now.

We do offer loading static tile images but not live ones.

I bought Start11 (the first version) when the app was released.

It was still very incomplete at that time.

But the only thing I spent money on was the Live tile mentioned in future plans.

I didn't think I needed to take a screenshot at the time.

No matter.

I use ExplorerPatcher.

I know, it's not as advanced an application as this one, but it does what it promises, not just in name.

I also regularly try Start11. (If I paid for it twice.) I'm disappointed again and again and return to ExplorerPatcher.
