1.96.498413 Stacking ship enhancements from new special Orbitals makes for OP fleets - still in 1.99 update

Does anyone else find this an undesirable outcome?  There's no competing with this.  Everyone has to get these Orbital enhancements as quickly as possible or lose to any Civ that has them.

Hi,

Where are these from? Top Gun, OTS, Tactical I/C... etc.

I know starship specs is a policy. I think orbital academy is a planet orbital build, but I did not know it was 150% buff. Is there a link to where these are discussed in detail?

I can't see them when I go over the tech tree as to the tech needed for them.

And yes, the hit points seem crazy high here.

Zichella1 - I've had an AI Civ with enhanced Fleets attack me in my last 2 games - game over.  My buffed Command ships totally worthless.

I'm not sure how to get them either.  I agree, they're not in the Tech Tree that I can see.  I also checked all the Ideologies under Cultural Progression and didn't see anything there.  Maybe one of the existing Orbitals that I don't normally use unlocks them?  I'll check that out in a new game today.

Sure hope someone who knows what's going on sees this post & responds.

This would explain a situation were I aborted the game because 'godlike' was just to crazy for me. Just before that I thought 'how much worse can godlike be over the level just below it' :).

I also thought it was changing my strategic process and playing a race without 'prolific' 2:1 ship production. But now I see I never stood a chance trying to be 'good'. Some times you just gotta play a xeno phobe and attack early and blitz. I can't see how to compete otherwise.

They really bumped up the AI bonuses in "Godlike" because they said we asked for it }:)

I'm playing on easy, because I like to be the Civ inflicting the pain.  So having AI civs come up with fleets like these was totally mind blowing x_x

So these new Orbitals are upgrades to the "Orbital Academy", but it says they are Civilization Achievements, so the AI shouldn't be able to stack multiples of the Orbital.  I'm guessing this was a glitch that got fixed, or is going to be fixed.

Thanks for the update / info.

I am playing a "Godlike" game and I am seeing what you are describing.  The first screen snapshot shows an Onyx Hive fleet that  has 37 ships in a fleet with 3151 total hit points and a Logistics limit of 164.  However, 2 can play at that game!

The second screen snapshot below shows one of my fleets.  It has only 11 ships with a Logistics limit of only 94, but it has 38,550 total hit points.  How did the hit points of my ships get so high?  The third screen snapshot shows the details of how one of my ships got hit points of 2,421.  The key is that I have built 124 Orbital Academies.  The fourth screen snapshot shows the hit points for a Dreadnaught ship that has a Carrier module.  The ship itself has 4,704 hit points and the 4 fighters add another 3.306 or over 800 per fighter!

While I am having fun with this and believe that I will eventually win this "Godlike" game, the Orbital Academy is waaaay too powerful.  I think you need to reconsider ALL features that apply to all ships or planets in an additive or multiplicitive way.  Some things to cosider might be to limit how many you can have or limit the geographic area over which they apply like Military starbases.

Exactly - As currently configured, the game on Conquest setting is simply a race to colonize planets so that you can build more Orbital Academies than anyone else and over power them with your invincible fleets.

Perhaps limit building them to core worlds only?

Do the bonus hit points also raise faction power and/or game scores?

I have no idea how Faction Power and game scores are calculated.  I don't see any way to get details on those in the game.

The metaverse is currently showing people getting scores of over a billion for one game. I'm trying to figure out how that works? I was happy with 0.020 billion scores or ~20,000,000 point games.

I don't want to introduce some new players until the ladders work. Or if they are working as desired what I'm doing poorly :).

So here is the Faction power from turn 51 of a game today.

The military power is 1385 while the other stats are ~20 :). I have 4 orbitals buffing small (frigate/fighter) ships, and promethian born (100% hit point buff).

I don't think this was intended, it makes everything other than military almost worthless/pointless.

Orbital Academy - Definitely needs a nerf. Orbital academy is the first thing I make sure to build on any new colony/core world. The AI seems to value building a lot of planetary defense + on lots of its planets.

Current stats: Hit points + 10% and +1 hit points.

New stats: + 1 hit points.

Each ship level up: + 25 % to ship hit points.

New ship level up: + 5% to ship hit points.

Battleships and dreadnoughts now have hundreds of hit points at best, not thousands. We need modules on shipyards which starts new ships at level 2, level 3, etc.

The hit points and capacity on ships need a rebalance update.

Current:

Fighter hull - 3 HP 5 capacity 1 logistics

Frigate - 5 HP and 10 capacity 2 logistics

Cruiser Hull-32 HP and 24 capacity 6 logistics. From frigate class to cruiser class it's 6.4 times the HP, that's such a high increase. I usually tech rush to Cruiser right away.

Batleship-128 HP 60 capacity 12 logistics

Dreadnought hull - 200 HP 100 capacity 18 logistics

New changes:

Fighter hull - 5 HP 6 capacity 1 logistics

Frigate - 10 HP and 12 capacity 2 logistics

Cruiser Hull - 32 HP and 35 capacity 6 logistics

Battleship - 100 HP 70 capacity 12 logistics

Dreadnought hull - 300 HP 110 capacity 18 logistics

New ship class (destroyer?) which uses 4 logistics. There's something from the text in the tech tree about frigate or cruiser being a "Destroyer" class. The HP and capacity of a cruiser need a rebalance if so.

If I could I would increase the HP and capacity of ships a few times at least, then increase the damage of weapons.  Weapons no longer deal 2, 3, 4, 5 etc damage, but 5 - 10 or 7 - 15 damage depending on the weapon. Some armor or weapon might need 15 mass but with miniaturization techs it'll will decrease the mass to around 12 or 11.
