Start11 Community Translations

Stardock Community Translations 2.0

We have revamped how we are handling translations for various Stardock Software products and how we engage our community to contribute to them.

For this effort, we have created a GitHub repository for making the current translation files available for editing by the community and for us to vet them when complete.

https://github.com/StardockCorp/Stardock-Software-Localization

Please see the readme file there for instructions.

Anyone submitting translations that are approved will be offered product compensation and credit in the changelogs.

Thanks in advance for any support.

Hi,

in Start11 v2 I can't find any sentences regarding backup settings and taskbar pins

The Lang files for start11 v2 are not available yet.

I've created a preliminary french translation for Start11v2 as a pull request for the GitHub project.

The lng file is based on the one given in the beta distribution.

https://github.com/StardockCorp/Stardock-Software-Localization/pull/21/files

Most of the messages have been translated but for unknown reasons some of them didn't get the right identifier string for the matching. They are now commented in the file.

I took the liberty to edit your translation and make a synchronized Pull Request of it with mine (keep strings in the same order than the fr.lng).

Some entries remained untranslated and are to be edited.

Dominique

I have suggestion for easier translation:

The string "Version 1.47" (related to information about the program) is translated as one string and must be translated in each version. I suggest you to split the string "Version 1.47" into two strings, "Version" and "1.47". So the string "Version" need to be translated only once, even when the version number changes.

This applies to Start11 as well as other Stardock programs.

Working on Start11 v2 translation is a real pain, it lags all the time and you have to write also the english part... hope you will revert to the old system soon.

Anyway, here is an italian version (v2.0 BETA 2a)

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/soz75i5rts90bpcslybd3/it.rar?rlkey=6vjvhfoztiqv2r2vjykcwt4o6&dl=0

Many string miss, I checked some other translation files and all seem to match.

Let me please now it there is something wrong or missing.

Thanks

The language files in the current builds are not finished (they are 1.47 ones), so this is why there are missing strings.

The french translation  (v2.0 BETA 2a) is available as a pull request on Github, but you'll find below a ready-made file.

Note: GitHub seems to enforce file encoding to UTF-8 whereas original .lng file are defined in UTF-16 LE (with BOM).

That would be a problem as UTF-8 isn't supported by Start11.

The conversion UTF-8 => UTF-16 LE is... rather simple with tools like iconv

Slovenian language updated to new Start11 v2.0.

Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-ltDVEZabppFi9WyxkQDwa6GqeYSu7tu/view?usp=drive_link

I would like to mentioned that Slovenian language file prepared for version 1.47 and is now used in Start11 v2.0 installation procedure is not saved in correct format. When i prepared translation for version 1.47 i saved file in UTF-16 LE and all character are displayed correctly. The same file that Stardock attaches to the installation is saved in UTF-8 and some character are displayed incorrectly (look printscreens).

Slovenian language file for version 2.0 is saved in UTF-16 LE. I suggest to keep it as it is and do not change it into UTF-8.

Language file in UTF-16 LE, characters are displayed correctly:
