AlientGPT: Your Art Requests put here

AlienGPT in GalCiv IV focuses on the text generation for the game but also picks out alien images that were pre-generated based on previous inputs.

So while the text generation is real-time, the art is not.

The way it works is as follows:

  1. You enter a description for your alien race "A species of space cats seeking domination"
  2. You choose the traits for your civ (to the right of the description entry).
  3. You hit Generate
  4. Text is generated on our TachyonAI servers and sent back.
  5. Your description is parsed for nouns and verbs and adjectives and 9 pre-generated alien portraits are selected (3 random, 3 rough guesses and 3 best guesses) and sent back.
  6. the nouns and verbs are stored and used to generate new art.
  7. The art generation AI uses Stardock's existing art portfolio (30 years of art) for training.
  8. New images are generated and put into the alien portraits library.

So post your wishes below.  I'll get it started:

A race of sentient grasshoppers

A species sentient lawn chairs

A civilization of exotic space slime

A race of aphids

A race of praying mantises

A race of sentient bipedal ladybugs

  • A sentient parasitic fungus
  • A forlorn emptiness detectable only by its absence
  • Electromechanical machinery exposed to vacuum
  • A mismatched assembly of fleshy organs oozing with unpleasant fluids
  • Empty ships and stations running on their own
  • Hollow eyed humans with nervous tics
  • A hive of ants which extend temporary limbs made of themselves
  • Freestanding electrical impulses which look like large canvases running the Game of Life
  • Space whales

I could do this all day ...

  • Fluffy Geigeresque Xenomorphs
  • Corpulent Butterflies with tentacles
  • Uplifted Dolphins but they wear kilts and have adopted Scotish culture.

If I can get a futuristic Roman Empire (with high tech lorica segmentata) I'm happy.

Prompt:  A human futuristic Roman Empire

Remember: These aren't prompts.   They have to be descriptions of civs.

What elements should be included in the civ description?

Would "Fluffy Geigeresque Xenomorphs who automatically impregnate the entire population of any planet they invade making even more Fluffy Geigeresque Xenomorphs?" work - or are you looking for cues on spaceship style, civ architecture?

Cyborgs, some that don't necessarily look cool because it's meant to be useful. Things that match some of the civ traits like cyborg, which could be really ugly but functional, or really about purity of form. Otherwise things that match warrior civs like having power armor. Some that match closer to some of the new traits like nocturnal, radiated could be more monsters are mutants of some kind. Watcher i'd be thinking like they could be telepaths of some kind maybe no mouths.

Otherwise I would pick animal traits I liked and make some cool looking new race out of it like bat-ears, preying mantis pincers instead of actual walking on tigers and bears, but that gets a complicated haha

😂🤣😂🤣😁

Seems you forget that I play drums. I've been a heavy metal fan since the 70's. These are ideas I had been toying with making for GC3 but never got around to exploring them. Recall when I made the Kitchen Sink, I wanted to create a civ based on the Star Wars parody film Hardware Wars.

🤣😂🤣😂🤣😁

I ain't smoked nothing 😂🤣😂🤣😁

Is it possible to access, browse, and download the premade pictures/portraits the AlienGPT is pulling from ourselves without having to create factions?

For example, I can enter a "description," really search term, of bears and get lots of different portraits of bear leaders, but there are none in the games files.  Since the game is programmed to automatically scale pictures, it would be nice to be able to download and save the ones I don't use into my citizen portraits folder to use them as citizens instead without having to create a whole bunch of dummy factions.  I also sometimes get inspiration just looking at a picture and coming up with a faction that would go with it.  Maybe it would be possible to allow us to download the pictures directly from the choose you leader screen during the generation process without having to create and save the faction, like a save portrait button?

Anyway, I really like what you have done with the AlienGPT, and love the connection to such a large database of premade, well done art to use.

Oh, and just to match my avatar and respond to the request:

A race of yellow, egalitarian ursoids who use a neoclassical architectural motif with primary colors of yellow (of course), periwinkle blue, and gold, and tend towards being democratic imperialists.

Personally I like the 3 base Cute Cat humanoids used as the citizen tabs 3 default images in the add image option.

Wolf people. At least a few variants, not just crazy-kill types.

It has irked me since this began that every time I write "wolf" in the description I get (among irrelevant stuff like human senior citizens, chocolate blobs, and bears) a flood of domestic dog images. Dog != wolf, no matter how much the current AI picker seems to think so.
